Greetings Mylotters!!!! Since I started here at Mylot I observed that most of Mylotters uses different or other picture as their avatar instead of their own image photo.I wonder what would be the real reason was. Is there any rules pertaining to pictures being uploaded and used at Mylot. I hope to find clarification about this matter.....! Thanks Mylotters!

This is also a social site like FB or Twitter so I think it's safe for us to plaster our photos below our name and rank.

There certainly are rules about using photos in MyLot. The Photo Guidelines here: http://www.mylot.com/o/photoguidelines.aspx tell you what is acceptable and what is not. Anyone is at liberty to use a real photo of themselves as an avatar and some people do. Others choose not to for various reasons, some of which may involve security. A person may, for example, want to keep his online identity hidden from his real-life friends because he or she may be sharing opinions and secrets which they do not want to be generally known in their day-to-day life offline. It does not usually mean that the person wishes to appear as aomething they are not (though usernames and avatars can, of course, be abused in this way). The word 'avatar' was borrowed from the Sanscrit scriptures where it is used in the sense of the embodiment or appearance of a god in human (or other) form. In Internet terms it means the use of any image, not necessarily a photo, to represent a person. Avatars very often suggest some desirable quality which the person wishes to be associated with. In modern (computer) usage, the term seems to have first appeared in a novel, "Snowcrash" by Neal Stevenson in 1992.

Hello dear owlings, Thanks for this information my friend. To all Mylotters I suggest that everyone should pay attention to this. This is not just an ordinary discussion or response, but it is a note of advice, maybe some of us is not aware about this guidelines. I started this discussion for a certain purpose, that is to bring elucidation or clarity as well as to give a little importance and attention to the quality and type of picture we share and upload here in Mylot, And how photos are related to any sort of discussions and avatar functions! WE can express our selves with photos, but in a decent and nice manner. Enjoy Mylot everyone!
