I have a twin sister, I sometimes I feel like its almost a curse and a blessing having one. why so? well one of the drawbacks of having someone share the same is that is is inevitable not to be compared. one of us would always have the better franchise if all the ers-better, smarter, prettier, friendlier and so on... Not that I'm really jealous about it. It just that sometimes it feels quite disturbing and annoying on both out parts. so when my friends would ask me what it feels like having a twin,I often times tell that I would greatly trade places with them for- that is,not having a twin at all. but they tell me that I have totally no idea how great it is to have one! Now I'm wondering who between us is right. so how does it really, like really. really feels like to have a twin?

I don't have a twin brother or sister, but for some reason, I think I kind of understand what you're going through. I've been compared to my brother a lot of times especially when we were kids. Well, we have different personalities. I'm outgoing, he's the studious type so he has very high grades and I got average ones. And sometimes it does gets to you. So I could imagine that it's far worse for twins since they don't have like say an age difference that you could use. I mean, I always say that my brother's older that's why he's better and stuff, but for twins... Still, she's your sister, and that's what really matters. Although I think your friends may not have an idea how hard it is to be compared :)

Sometimes we really can't appreciate on the things that we do have. Only those who doesn't have it know how to appreciate it. I do believe that you really hate having a twin sister especially that she is your closest competitor, but believe me it would be fun. My mom do have a twin sister and that is my aunt. The two of them really love one another. When they were young they do have a lots of happy memories. They also kept a lots of secret to one another. They were too close to one another and because of their closeness, I call my aunt as "mama". I really wanted to have a twin sister because that would gonna be a reflection of myself.

I can’t relate the feelings as I don’t have a twin sister. But I think it is really interesting to watch if there is an identical sister for me. There may be disadvantages like you mentioned, still I felt happy whenever I seen twins. I had twin class mates but they were not identical.

Twins - Happy Twins
I believe having a twin is a blessing. I have a twin grandchild (by my niece) and I think as I could observe, both of them are enjoying each other and will never be happy without the other. As I could see it is a blessing to them because they never feel alone. They always have each other to play with. When one gets something (say food) he won't get just his share but would get a share for two so that his twin would eat as well or when the food is just good for one, they'd just share and enjoy eating together. When one gets into a fight with the other kids, the other will immediately come into rescue. When one is crying, the other is always there to pacify. It is a normal for twins or even just siblings to compete or be jealous of each other. However the parents should guide them about what is right and what is wrong so that the kids will grow up loving instead of competing or despising each other.

I think i is great to have your twin brother or sister.I myself wanted one but i don't have.I have seen many twins and it is always great to just look at them wondering how they just look like.I also try to figure out minor differences in them. There is no need to jealous or anything you just need to understand each other and live up happily with this gods grace.

Hello otakumarie, I do have twin kids one daughter and a son.I always feel great to have twin kids but thats true there is always a comparison between them by everyone in the family and ultimately it depends on the kids how they take it when they get mature.Hope they don't take it in negative way.

I agree with you binggaling.:) People always treat me and my twin as one unit. It would help us a lot if people see us as two different individuals (even if it's hard for them to do).

i don't know but i do think it is just the same as we having a brother, or a sister that is not a twin. =) maybe there is just an added fun because that twin can be your instant bestfriend, right?

Well, i have no idea about that, because i think as you said, though some people think it is fun to have twins, but for the twin themselves, there must be some bad sides. You know what, i prefer a pigeon pair than twins. Because i want have both son and daughter, if the god can send me a pigeon pair, i will be very glad.

I do not know what it feels like to have a twin but I think it would be neat to have grown up with an identical twin. The trouble I could have gotten into and blamed on her lol. It is true that as a twin you will always be compared as to who is the nice one and who is the stuck up one who is smarter and who isnt as smart. Its the same with all siblings though but obviously probably more so between a set of twins. I know a set of twins that complete hate each other and in probably 30 years have barely spoken to each other.

Not exactly, but when my younger brother and I were kids people would swear that we looked just like we could be twins. Occasionally we would dress in matching t-shirts and shorts as a joke to this claim.

Otakumarie, believe me, I totally understand your sentiments. I'm a twin, too, and I am ALWAYS compared with my sister. She's always the prettier and the smarter twin, while I'm the more sociable and the friendlier twin. It hurts us both, but we're trying to cope with it. Having said that, I think being a twin is cool. I have an instant bestfriend. No one understands me as much as she does. And because people find us so interesting, we would always get special treatment LOL. I also believe that ordinary siblings also experience this. Even friends experience this. My twin is the greatest blessing in my life. Nothing's perfect, and I know that having a twin had caused me some pain. But I would never, ever trade places with other people.:) (I hope my twin reads this LOL)

I don't have a twin but personally I don't want to have an IDENTICAL one. Let's just say that I don't want to look exactly like somebody. So Identical twin is out of the question. If it is just twin, maybe it's fine. At least I have somebody whom I can talk with. Well, hopefully that twin and I have the same personality. Or maybe even different, as long as we get along. Just like the Sweet Valley Twins, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield.
