I am still confused. Some of my friends told me that Chocolate is a non-vegetarian item to eat. But i have also seen many vegetarians eating chocolates. Have you got any idea about this friends?

It depends though. Well, generally, chocolates are made of cacao. That would be considered vegetarian I believe. However, manufacted and processed chocolates can be viewed differently. Other ingredients are added such as milk, nuts and so. Generally, they would add milk into chocolate. If you consider milk as non vegetarian then, so it is non vegeterian. I just eat them though :D but I will still view chocolates as vegetarian food

chocolate does not contain any meat product so it is vegetarian.but if you are a vegan, that means you avoid every animal product, cow milk is present in chocolate.although soy milk based chocolates are available, you would find them hard to find and are expensive too.

Technically, chocolates may contain meat products in them. Although the main ingredient of cacao isn't meat, some of the ingredients to process these chocolates may contain meat products, however small the amount is. So I guess if you're an extreme vegetarian, you wouldn't eat chocolates. So I guess the vegetarians that eat them are those who just don't eat food that are obviously prepared with meat or meat products. They don't really dwell on making sure that each ingredient has additives that were derived from meat.

I was told that some do. I didn't actually get into the details of it since I don't mind eating chocolates whether they contain meat products or not.But one thing I know is that chocolates bars have milk in it and most if not all milk products used in chocolates comes from cows, which is meat :)

The basic ingredients of chocolate are cocoa and cocoa butter, both products of the fruit of the cacao tree. The most common additions are vanilla (another plant product) and milk solids.
I think that it is the addition of milk which makes some chocolate unacceptable to vegans (many vegetarians eat dairy products and unfertilised eggs, so chocolate would be acceptable to them).
Hearsay is a very dangerous thing. I think that your friends were ill-informed. You should always be careful to check the facts of anything one hears in casual conversation or reads in a newspaper or on the Internet. It is sometimes difficult to discover the reliability of information. It is wise to look for sources which you can be confident are usually reliable.

Come to think of it, Where do you think Chocolate came from? It came from Cacao. So it should be consider as a fruit right? But then there are still some facts that should be studied first. I do believe that those vegetarians only eats fruits and vegetables so they can eat chocolates as long as it is not a meat.

Really! I heard this for the first time. But I don't think that only non-vegetarian people are the only once who eat chocolate neither the vegetarian people. Chocolot attracted each kind of human.
