That's hare! To just narrow it down to a few things. I love medieval history so that helps. Hmmmm. I love the feeling of being with friends and family. All my sca friends felt like family. Now, I started back in 1992 when I was 18. Back in Missouri where I was very active until 1995 when I enlisted in the Air Force. I've been trying to get back in it but it's not the same. Calontir will always be special to me because of where I started and the friends I had. The last few years I've been trying to be more active but my husband isn't into it and my two sons are two young. Granted, my oldest who is five is starting to show an interest.
Back on topic, I like the garb, and I loved watching the fighting! I did put on armor at a fighter practice and try it out. I came out of it with so many bruises, but with a better respect for the fighters. Also, I miss the wars! I went to Estrella War once (it was my second event! I got roped into a long road trip that actually cemented the fact that I loved the sca!), Pennsic twice, and Lilies two or three times.
I'm wanting to get into brewing and more costuming. I'll stop rambling now and let others talk!

Oh yes, all the others... I was born into it back in CAid, I've been living in the west for a year now and haven't been active at all. I flew down to Estrella in february and I've visited family a couple times and gone to fighter practice. I should have a device pic somewhere... eh... I don't have my heraldry image anymore, here's me fighting with my shield bearing it though, it's the best one I could find. oops, I said my heraldry is on the left in the discription, I lied, it's on the right.

Mostly my interest in the SCA has waned after 30 years. But I still go for the archery and the bardic arts from time to time.
Partly it's the economy. With the price of gas I'm not all that motivated to drive to events anymore. Partly it's because I moved to Gyldenholt where people judge you so much on whether you wear new garb to every event.
I've been to Great Western War three or four times (because it's practically in my back yard. I've been to Pennsic once (drove there from California). I've been to Portrero once, but that was so many years ago I'm sure it's changed a lot.
I've lived in Caid mostly, but have also lived in the Kingdom of the West.
