I mean this was a word I could spell even if awoken from the deepest sleep because my autospeller would kick in.On this ocaasion my mind went blank and I stood there like a dumbo ,aaaww awww but nothing was coming up on screen . The word was ....drum roll..."Believe"...Ok maybe I was being a little dramatic before but I honestly couldnt remember if it was "e" before "i" or "i" before "e". I hoped I got it right this time . OK, so maybe my story was lame but do you have any simple words that you out-rightly couldn't spell, totally forgot the entire spelling. Please enlighten us

I beleive that there many other people has this problem with words that have e and i right after each like believe, receive, deceive and others like that but me, the word that I always rely on spell checker to be sure about it's spelling is the word tomorrow, sometimes I spell it tommorow but I got it this time..

haha but sometimes by just looking at it for few seconds you will know that you misspelled (ironically another world that is often misspelled) it because it looks unusual.

Hi, how would you react if I tell you I cannot write this simple word 'exactly' without using spell-checker? Most of the time I write it down and by looking at it, it looks somehow abnormally written-, in attempt to rectify this, I place an 'r' between 'a' and 'c', messing up the word but it makes my mind relax

hi waflay that is exactly why spell-checker feature of some internet browser is such a useful one because I believe each and every person do misspell some words sometimes.

I'm a terrible speller, so it isn't surprising when I forget how to spell a word; and I forget quite often. That's why I always keep a dictionary close. Sometimes my spelling is so bad, I can't even find the word in the dictionary. Yes, more than once I have forgotten how to spell a simple word.

Lol sometimes I get a complete blank in my mind. It just happens at random times. I forget something I definitely knew a few seconds ago. Like this one time I forgot my English teacher's name. I hate it when that happens. It's like a brain fart but good thing is that it only lasts a short while. Although one time I forgot a name for a few hours, lol.

This happens to me a lot of times, and I usually feels stumped and somewhat an idiot. I will admit that even when writing online or with a computer, I tend to make mistakes and that is forgivable because there is the trustworthy spellchecker ( there are even grammar checkers out there) . However, it really hits me hard sometimes when I feel that I misspelled something when I am writing in longhand or in my handwriting. The feeling Is a combination of frustration and confusion – I know that I misspelled the world but I am at loss on how to correct it. If I am really frustrated, I would consult a dictionary but sometimes, it is not possible in some situations like written exams. I would just hope and pray that the reader will not take it seriously that I misspelled a word. Personally, perhaps I relied too much on the spellchecker since I do most of my writing online. But this could encourage me to revisit my old book of commonly misspelled words. I guess I need a refresher once in a while.

Haha, there are times when I also met that kinda situation. Well, at least yours is better than mine. Sometimes, when I'm doing something such as watching tele, and my bro ask me to spell a word. I will go blank and think hard even if it's just a simple word. Well, this shows that my brain isn't focus and thinking or I'm just plain lazy to think about it. My auto spelling check will mess up from time to time though. It's unreliable. But, if it's an emergency, I'll get it right of course( if there is a million dollars on the line ) haha!bad joke. But it's would be true though. Of that happens. XD the mysteries of life

Oh, there are times my mind goes totally blank when trying to recall the spelling of a simple word. And it really doesn't look good for someone whose job is to edit transcripts. A typo error is embarrassing enough. To forget the spelling of a simple common word is disastrous.

Happened to me once. And that word was the simple word, 'bird'. It's weird but I suddenly just forget and hesitant whether I'd type it correctly. Then I had to ask my friends. Of course, they're laughing like crazy. That's wasn't the only time though. I once forgot how to spell 'scissors' and was thinking 'how many 's' actually?' I guess sometimes we do forgot a word to spell from time to time -_-!!

Kinda. There are a lot of words I've sort of forgotten, but it's a bit different from your situation. The words I don't remember are those I haven't used in a long time, but some of them are pretty simple, and I used to be able to write them without thinking. I can still write them if I don't stop to think about it (it seems my hands remember the words), but I try to think of how a word is written, I draw a blank. I even almost forgot how to write my own full name properly because I only use my first name and family name in online sign-up forms and when writing my name on assignment submissions and stuff. Even when something asks for my full name or when it's used in university namelists, it's the transliterated name that's used. So when I had to write my name again... I think I actually got it right but it seemed so unfamiliar and weird.

I have to admit that the words that I do tend to have the hardest time with is the words that have the I before E in them. However, I will recite the poem in my mind when I'm having a hard time with those words. I just always remember I before E except after C or when sounded as A as in neighbor or weigh. That is just one of those simple things that I learned in school that really does help me.

There are times where my mind goes rather blank trying to spell a word. Granted, there are times where I just substitute in another word and just move on. And then slap myself and realize that I'm not a caveman...I HAVE SPELL CHECK! Of course, when one mangles a word badly enough, spell check is about as helpful as well as something that is not all that helpful. Still it should be simple words, so I should not mangle it that bad. No clear examples come to my mind, but typing when I am half asleep or on a little amount of sleep is counterproductive. Then again words that might seem simple to some might not be as much to another person. Your experience will greatly vary a lot of the time I would think.

i think now a days the main reason for forgetting to spell even a simple word was because of excessive using of short cut of words when chatting and sending sms

Yes. It has happened for me on many occasions. It is because English is not our mother tongue and we try to manage to an extent possible.

I also misspelled simple word or sometimes bother if it is correct or not when typing or writing a word.In our modern world today, gadget and things that we use everyday has a big contribution in this like cellphone and computer. We always used to use short cuts of words when sending sms to someone to make are message shorter and so we can type and send it fast. Also chatting that sometimes we use short cuts too and sometimes abbreviations too.
