Weird, sometimes when someone coughs, especially in a quiet room, i will also have the urge to follow them, to cough. Funny, but im serious. I try to control the urge, but somehow most of them ended up with a small jerking cough. Well, the worst part is, when i tried to control it, i end up getting a bad cough. == Well, i wonder what others think when i cough with them. Lol. What about you? Do you experience This kind of thing before? :D Thanks for sharing!

lol! Judging by the comments we all agree on the yawning spell. It has happened to me plenty of times, and I think it has a lot to do with the other person's action unconsciously triggering the thought of yawning. It's weird but interesting to me.

No, it never happens to me. I have never heard this before. Have you ever tried to see a doctor just to know if this is related to cough itself. What about laughter. If someone near you laughs aloud, will you suddenly laugh, too?

I haven't experienced such a thing personally but some of my friends somewhat have. But mostly when people yawn. They insist that it's contagious or subliminal or something. One friend though feels his throat is itchy when somebody around him is coughing. Worse is he thinks he caught what ever virus the coughing person has. That's why I wasn't the least surprised when you posted your topic. You're not totally alone on this one :)

Sometimes i think that some things are contagious. Coughing, sneezing, laughing and hiccups all seem to fall in line with this. Sometimes you just can't help but to mimic some things. Whether vcluntary or unvoluntary, these things do happen.

The yawn reaction is a great way to confirm suspicions! When I was doing day care one of my older girls was talking about a guy staring at her. When confronted he denied it. I told her the best way to ferret this guy out, yawn. Well, you know what happened next.

There are just a lot of times where when someone coughs or sneezes, I have the urge to follow. It is just some impulse right in the brain. I remember during class sometimes when one person started coughing, it was a synchronized coughing fit right through the entire class. It was kind of amusing, it really was, to hear every single person just coughing in unison.
Indeed coughing, sneezing, and also yawning, cannot forget yawning, really cannot forget yawning. I cringe when people yawn, because then I yawn and yawning is just something that is just going to really make me tired most of the time. But still coughing is something that I seem to have the urge to do sometimes. Not all of the time, but still it is funny how the actions of others can inspire us, I guess that would be the wording for it.

Well, either you got the same virus they have from the same room they're in, or there is something in the room that is irritating your throat as well that person. Perhaps the air is dry, or is not properly clean, or alittle dusty. I have been wondering if yawning is sometimes catching, cause when someone yawns I have the urge to yawn as well, but not always, just sometimes. Have you ever heard of that too?

Hi friend,
Your story was a new one to me.
What I believe was the yawning.. There once a friend of mine who says that when his crush yawn after her they will be lovers in a month...
I day in our class, I observe that my friend yawn after some second his crush also yawn... After 3 weeks, I heard that there were bf/gf relationship already. What a cute story that I can't imagine that it will come true. Just to update, they were now a couple with 1 kid.
Amazing!!!
