Some people believe boys will carry family name after they married while girls will carried her husband name. In my opinion, that though are ridiculous. When boys and girls married, it brings together two families in one. The family name is not important anymore.

Traditions amongst other cultures can sometimes be cruel. I would always think as long as its healthy and the mother is healthy there can always be more babies to come. But there is a privilege and pride for some through the beginning of time to have a son first. I am always fascinated in learning traditions and cultures and how it came to be.

In some countries, family name (surname) is everything and only boys can carried and pass it to next generation. If their parents (Grandma & grandpa) only have one boy, I can understand why they so desperate to have boy. But if their parent had more than 1 boy, I just don't get it. If first son fail to delivered boy, they still have second son .....
