Will you apply for a job that is clearly out of your league?

I applied for a Saturday-only job with the post office - it's a carrier position. I've never driven for a living and therefore I'm sure I'll be automatically unqualified for it. It's not that I want to work on saturdays, but I wouldn't mind a little extra income to put towards schooling, getting out of credit card debt, and generally having a little more pocket money. The only thing is is that I'm almost clearly out of the league for this job. But I applied anyway, and I'm not sure why I did that! Have you ever applied for a job that seemed out of your league? And if you have, have you ever actually gotten it????

Yes, I've actually applied to positions which clearly I wouldn't get, but I did anyway. I always send out my resume regularly. Even when I have a job. That's because I always think that there might be something better out there. Anyway, a couple of times I applied for company director positions. Clearly it was out of my league, but I was hoping that by some miracle I get hired, then I get to experience their obscene salaries!

yes, I did however it took time to make money but it was still worth it, I was in my 1st year of high school when I tried fixing a computer by my self before being a computer technician in my 2nd year, it took me almost a whole year and I broke a lot of my computers but it was really worth it, even if I earn almost $2-4 per service I still enjoy it and the best part is I never really wanted to be technician right now I'm a dentistry student whose aiming for med school that wants to be an archeologist but never had a chance to be one :) just enjoy life and good luck

I have often gotten jobs that I have no idea how I qualified for it. The most out of my league job that I got was for a payroll for a big US company and US taxation is a big headache! My background is more into computers and internet technology, so I had no idea how I got the job. But it was a fun job as it turned out and I saw how scary working in the US (and losing your job without notice) can be. I have had calls from people who did not get their salary on time because their managers did not approve their time cards. But the most common question was about the tax!

I think that if you know that you need a job, you might as well apply for it because if you never apply you'll never get it, whereas if you apply there's always a small chance that the job in question might just be given to you. I wouldn't worry about experience, we all have to start somewhere, and there is every chance that other jobs that you've had in the past would be in your favour when the person decides who they're going to give the job to. A lot of employers are willing to give people a chance to show that they are able to do the job that they've applied for.

a pleasant day to you, with reference to your main topic, as for me, i will still apply on that job although it will be an out of my line knowledge. since my situation here in our home is not doing good so i will try my best to get into that post. so i can be able to raise a fund that i can be use when i move out from here. hence, if i will be in your shoe, i will still apply and try my best to be accepted, since the extra income is somehow material to help me to have more savings. just try to look at it on a positive point of view.

Hi!Its not that bad after all because its a descent job and you are helping yourself to become productive. I would do the same if there is no choice. I graduated nursing and pass the board exam but I have no luck in the job I have been applying at a lot of hospitals but I end up becoming an office assistant.hehe..Better have a job than none.:)

There is no harm in trying in this day and age for any job. If people are applying for jobs that are way beneath them I am in favor of vice-versa! I myself have only applied for a job that I was qualified for and also prefer stability so hope I am around for a while to come. Let us know how it went!

I think at the rate with the economy and how hard its been trying to find jobs, id apply like everywhere and just take whatever i could get as long as its not illegal work. I dont have any expirience myself and im 24 and still havent had my first job and no ones called. i think im lucky to have an awesome roommate whos also one of my closest friends, but i dont like living for free i dont even like being on my ssi. i think if a job was even out of my league id still try and go for it just to see if i could get it.
