Can you do this....at the same time?

Walk and eat (a bowl of ice cream)? Walk and read? Walk and watch movies on mobiles? All these are amazing feats to me! Are people trying to maximize their time or they cannot stand letting any seconds go by without doing something? Is this time well-spent? Personally, I think there's a time to do anything, yes, we can read while waiting for the red light to change, but I wouldn't want to bang into the lamp-post or something. What's your take?

I can walk and eat an ice cream. Walk and read a little. But not walk and watch movies on mobiles. This is because I can't really concentrate on the movies when I am outside. Plus I am putting myself in danger if I do that. We can not only bang outselves into a lamp-post, we can also be hit by a car.

Getting hit by a car is the part I'm worried about, are these people unaware of the danger? Ability to do it doesn't mean the ability to avoid getting hurt right?

That is true, Actually even if you are walking and listening on music with headphones on are dangerous. When outside you normally concentrate on listening, reading or watching and forgetting to be attentive in the road.

Yes, the focus is usually more on the music we are listening or the book we are reading, rather than the roads, which should be number 1 priority in this case. It is so scary!

Hi bluemoon...Such a nice discussion. I can do the first and the second. I enjoy to walk and eat ice cream with the girls, but I sometimes get an accident when I am reading while walking, I ever hit a pole or a car ( the car was parked ) Yeah it is good to use our time useful but there are some places and moments that we better to be focus with the walk

Hi zaahro, Ouch, that hurts! I have seen accidents like yours happening and I wonder why do people let themselves be hurt? Makes no sense to me...Isn't it better to do things at the proper place? I hope you will not hurt yourself again...

For the things you mentioned, i have only done the first, that is eating an ice cream while i am walking. I am not so industrious to the extent of reading while walking, and there has been not movie so fantastic that make me risking my safety until now.

That's absolutely right! It is indeed dangerous to get distracted on the roads. With the reckless driving nowadays, we might just walk blindly into the path of a oncoming car.

I can walk and talk on the phone or other people, that's all. I don't walk while eating, watch movies on the phone or even read. I might hit a pole, fall into the drain, step on something or even walk passed a red light (and get hit by something) Multitasking is good but sometimes you need to be focus and do one thing at a time.

Hi prinzcy, That's some fine examples you have given there, hope it's not from your personal experience... Yes, focus is the key word here. We could get distracted easily and get into any of these accidents with serious consequences.

Multi-tasking is a great thing. It saves people a lot of time. It also shows how people are very capable of handling multiple levels of stress by doing a few things at the same. But the examples you gave are actually not of stress. They were actually relaxing activities, which could be best experienced doing one at a time.

Hi bounce, Excellent point! It is actually very stressful to do all these relaxing activities, all at the same time, it defeats the purpose right? Imagine having to coordinate so many different parts of your body, eyes, ears, mouth (to sing along), fingers, legs and brains. Goodness, that seems a lot of stress to me!

I do multi-tasking a lot, I'm a girl and I guess it's given for us and yes I am trying to maximize my time and be productive as much as possible. Time flies so fast, it is better to do everything you could at that moment than to have regrets of not doing them. But honestly I'm always ending up of regretting, I got so many plans and ideas in my head on what to do next.. And keeps on doing them and doing them at the same time, in the end I'm not finishing anything. So what's the sense, I'm not getting anything done, my mom used to tell me and until now she always does. FOCUS at one thing first.. get it done before jumping into another task. @-) Now I believe my mom is right. :))

hello hellopseudo, Multitasking is all right as long as we can concentrate on completing two tasks and doing that one after the other. Simultaneously could be more tricky. I know I don't want to watch TV while having dinner, it gives me indigestion. Wise advice from your mum, I hope you juggle your time better from now on.

I have never tried any of them, don't think I could. Probably you are more capable than me, but do be careful!

Yes, I can walk and eat a bowl of ice cream. Then I would find a seat where I can concentrate on eating. I don't read when walking. I don't watch movies on mobiles. But I can eat ice cream while watching movie or facing mylot but still seating. Sometimes I do watch tv while texting. Well, people can be busy at times that they want to maximize their time on doing two things at the same time. I for example has things to do that I want to finish it all before the day ends. It's better to make most of your time when you want to be productive. But it is also needed to have at least few hours or one day to relax and have a good time.. What do you say?

I can walk and do anything there is you can do with my cellphone. :) I use my peripheral vision so that I won't bump into people or walls. ;P

Peripheral vision...that's another amazing feat. I guess I'm quite blind in that way.

it sounds funny but i usually walk while eating ice cream sometimes popcorn specially in school and also while eating i do texting too. in house sometimes if i go to comfort room just to pee im texting or reading magazine. and of course in my room if im surfing in my laptop i usually watch movie while eating and chatting with my friends in facebook and also do some discussion in myLot.

Texting in the toilet sounds too unhygienic to me. I don't bring my cell into toilets and would never use it while doing my "business". Multi-tasking in your room is of course ok.

I love multitasking but i see to it that my body can handle it. I wanna maximize my time so i won't waste it. right? but if i am tired to such things i would definitely take my time to rest too!

Many people can do that, I guess practice makes perfect too. I don't like to be distracted by different things all at the same time.
