Nominees:
The Artist
The Descendants
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Help
Hugo
Midnight in Paris
Moneyball
The Tree of Life
War Horse
I still haven't even seen most of these films unfortunately, but I'd like to see 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' win, simply because it was an excellent book.
What are your thoughts?

I haven't seen any of these movies yet, but I've been watching their trailers and reading reviews for about a month.I think that The Artist,Hugo and War Horse are most likely to win Best Picture this year.I made a promise to see at least 4 of the nominated movies before the Oscar night.I think it's more exciting to watch the awards when you're familiar with the nominated movies, actors, etc.

Extremely Loud will win because of the 9/11 connection: guilt vote.

I pay very little attention to the Academy votes. I seldom find the movies nominated to be that great. I never go to the movies...I opt to rent them on DVD which normally means I don't see them for several months. I have seen The Help & found it to be a really good movie!!! Maybe I enjoyed it because I grew up in the South during that time period & remember how the blacks were treated. I want to see Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close because I love everything Tom Hanks & Sandra Bullock do & together I bet they'll be dynamite!!! I'm hoping to see War Horse because I love stories about the loyalty of any animal. I typically enjoy movies that make me cry!!! The others look interesting, but I think I can wait until I just get the chance to see them in place of rushing out to rent them!!!

I think, "The Help" will win. I've heard so many good reviews on that movie. It's such an incredibly touching film that shows so much history and depth. I'd be very surprised if it didn't win. My friends of all colors enjoyed it, and spoke very highly of it to the point where I really want to go out and see it.

Hey, when I looked at this post in it's abreviated form on the topic list, all the films were put on the same line. I quite fancied "Help Hugo Midnight" as a winner, sounds like an interesting film :) Now I see the topic in full I feel a little dissapointed, I wonder what a file would be like made of a blend of those three !!!

PRobably The Artist..or Descendants
but i really want WAR HORSE to win...
silly nomination this year..doesnt include the fantabulous TIN TIN and RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES..in any category..especially animation or special fx..

I've been really pushing forward with seeing all of the movies up for oscars... I'm always such a big fan of the academy awards, so it's best to see everything. I still haven't seen them all, but I have seen The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, THe Tree of Life, and Moneyball. I really liked Midnight in Paris the best, but I have a really good feeling about Hugo and The Artist... I still have to see both of them, but I have a really good feeling that they'll be big winners at the oscars.
