I went to the fridge to get a refresher on my iced tea and was talking to the roomie at the same time. I shut the door and suddenly the black cat, Nef, sitting on top of the fridge started yowling! I had shut her tail in the fridge door - a lot of her tail - and she couldn't get it out! I opened it ASAP, but I so upset her she started throwing up. I should've paid more attention perhaps, but black cat/black fridge.... I felt really bad, but I must say that these cats are bad about leaving their tails in danger! She's forgiven me, well, she blamed it on the door after all. Have you ever caught your cats tail in anything? Have you ever been so upset you started throwing up?

We don't have cats but we have dogs. We got a scooter motorbike for the purpose that we can have some of our dogs ride with us. At our first trial, we took our yellow lab for a ride and she was doing fine, except when someone shouted out that the dogs tail was dragging on the road. Since our labs tail was only dangling and it was caught on anything, she was complaining or making a sound. Poor thing, I didn't mean it and I'm more careful when letting any of our dogs ride with us on the scooter. If you talk about having our dogs' tail caught, it'd be our screen door, this is either when we are going in or out for a walk. Their tails get caught sometimes, I'm sorry for that too! (^_^) I promise to be more careful.

I got the stupid dog's tail in the door to keep Booboo (a cat) from getting out, took 3 stitches, but she's a bit quicker about getting out the door now...

Pets are smart aren't they? Lol, after our dogs' first experience in getting their tails stuck somewhere, they are usually quicker going in and out too!. Funny. (^_^) I promise and I'll try not to do that to any of them again.

Forgive me but that was outright hilarious! Black cat and black refrigerator, the blame definitely is not on you! Anyways, I have had cats, and I always am careful whenever they are around specially when they were kittens. These kittens can get squashed under my feet. There were a few times I nearlly stepped on them and fortunately, I am always able to feel the difference in my stepping and am able to jump in the time. Lucky cats huh? I do all the jumping while they do all the "step on me". I also have not been upset to the point wherein I throw up.

oooo you got the point - it was pretty funny - AFTER the fact! Yeah, I step on the little monsters, especially Oliver since he won't move, all the time. In fact, the roomie "V" was taking the new roomie "D" to her room(she's totally blind and only been here 2 weeks), and "V" was saying, "turn left, now step on Oliver..." "YOW!" as Oliver got stepped on. These brats are going to have to learn to get out of "D"'s way if they don't want her to step on them!

I do not throw up when I am upset. I let loose the other way. Yes, cat's tails are uniquely designed to be shut into things, and it does happen.I think a similar scenario in fact. Poor kitty. Oh, and Creamery walks just under foot so that we can step on his paws and he can cry.

I agree, and am generally more careful than that. But tails and paws seem to be under foot all the time here, a rare week goes by without us getting a few paws or tails.

I shut one of my cat's tails in a door. It was really far up the tail! I looked at it in awe as the cat didn't say a word. Then it slowly started slithering out of the door. He didn't even lose any hair either!!! In our family it is tradition to shut the cat's tail in the fridge door. For some reason they just won't tuck their tails in when they're in front of the fridge. I've also dropped the toilet seat on the cat's tail- the one that I had that liked to crawl into the toilet. I've learned to be a bit more careful about the cats and their appendages. I don't like stepping on them or shutting their tails in doors, I really feel terrible when I do. I can't say I've gotten so upset that I've started throwing up, but today I got so upset that I went shopping...does that count? ROTFL

I caught Mekon's tail in the door, he got 7 stitches out of it! I have gotten upset enough to throw up, well, nervous enough, I seemed to spend most of 7th grade throwing up...

Aww poor cat. I am not sure why but it seems like cats like to "blend in" with their surroundings. Or maybe they aren't doing it intentionally. I've stepped on cats tails before and of course they are emotional creatures so it took a bit but they did forgive me. The poor kitty but I am sure you gave her lots of love afterwards.

Oh no! I feel bad for your black cat Nef! We were at our friends house, and one of our friend didn't see a cat sitting on top of the fridge and her tails are inside too and nearly shut it with the tails in. Thankfully my friend had not shut it hard yet and notice her tails.

Our brats always seem to have some appendage hanging out to get stepped on or shut on - it can be annoying, but you really can't get mad at them, they are really just babies about such things, not realizing the danger...

Yeah I've been over at this friend's house who have 5 cats inside their house. You will see them on top of the fridge, on the bed, on the sofa, on the kitchen table... running around playing.. they look really cute!

Nef, who is about 8 years old, will go running through the house, bounce off a wall to change directions! Even our younger cats don't bounce off walls like Nef! Daisy will charge through the house, one direction, come back and slam out the cat flap to the cat porch and a few seconds later be back in the other flap and doing it again!

Never caught his tail in anything, but I have stepped on it a few tunes. He usually digs his claws into my kegs till he draws blood.

We've stepped on Oliver's tail many times, but he doesn't NORMALLY claw us, just complain loudly - you'd think he'd learn. We've also gotten Oliver paws, but also any number of the other cats paws as well. I generally realize that there's a tail in the way and move it, but I was distracted talking this time.

Mine regularly get their tails caught in closing doors. It's their own fault really, as they leave it until the very last second, when the door is already closing, to make a dash through.

Aww, sad. But it happens. I've definitely stepped on my own cats tails quite a few times. It was unavoidable. Sometimes cats just get in the way, it's not their faults and it's not your fault necessarily, it just happens. My cats always follow me around and sO I've definitely stepped on their tails (by accident of course) before just because they're walking right in front of me. They yelp and then hiss at me and run away. I'm not sure it actually hurts them (I thought they didn't have bones in their tails?) but I know it freaks 'em out...

Oh, they have bones in their tails... and they are pretty bad about walking in front of ya - we have a saying "follow along in front of you" because they do that, run in front, stop and look back to make sure you are following, can't tell you the times I've accidentally kicked them doing that!

It was so happened that the black cat caught her tail in the fridge door. The main reason is both cat and fridge are black. If only the cat were white. If it is for warming herself up for the cat to like sitting on the top of fridge.

but the inside is white, so I should'a seen her tail, I just wasn't looking... And my cats generally are on top of the fridges because they like to be high, tho it is probably warmer up there than the floor.

Hi!That happens every time here in our house. Our cats love sleeping on top of teh fridge. Maybe because its really warm there. They will just scream and I would just say sorry because their tails are hanging and once you close it you will not notice that it was pinned. Poor cat.

whoops! i must have mis read the trowing up bit, when Max was attacked by that horrible black cat and had his tail ripped open, he was vomiting, he went into shock for a spell, he too is fully recovered now, and i am glad Nef is too, cats are funny old things, if you do something be it by accident OR on purpose, their expressions sure let you know that they are not happy with you, they make me feel so guilty

She may say that she's forgiven you, but I'd watch out for vomit in my shoes if I were you... or a cat "accidentally" pushing a pillow over your face in the middle of the night. I haven't shut any tails in anything that I can remember, but I have accidentally stepped on a few paws and tails over the years. Just the other day, I took a step back and got my youngest; I'd seen her go by, but I hadn't realized that she'd parked herself right behind me. So, I got the yowl of, "Mommy's trying to kill me!" Cats...

LOL! We get Oliver all the time, Nef not so much. Last 2 cats we nailed were Oliver and Gabby, neither of whom seemed to have more than their pride injured... My shoes are either on my feet or in a place the brats can't get them...

My cats long ago taught me that nothing is sacred--whether it be shoes or computers. I even once had a cat manage to catch me in her path when she projectile vomited onto the sofa. Being a calico, her cattitude was that I shouldn't have been where I was at that time. She was a good girl, but she definitely knew who was in charge--and it wasn't the humans.

I've never been so upset that I started throwing up but I have seen things that upset me and made me throw up....wait...is that the same? I have had cats when I was younger and their tails do tend to end up in dangerous places. I had a cat that would dash for the front door every time it was opened and although I would watch for her, there have been a couple of times I thought she was clear and I caught her tail bit.

Poor kitty! Poor Nef! At least she is better and forgave you! I never have shut doors on a cat before! Stepped on their feet when they have gottan in the way! A few weeks ago I had to get off a cat food can off a cat's head at the stable! The new cat,Blanket, had gottan her head in a cat food can someone left out. When I saw her she was justing sitting there because she could not see! I got the can off and she went running! Then there was the time Beethoven got stuck in the grain bind. He was looking for some cat food because it was out. I didn't know he was in there until he started howling! I opened the lid and he jumped out! Those are tow of my cat stories!

My cats seem to think they can do anything and when they get upset, they are more likely to not want any help - that cat with the can on his head was smarter than average!

hi elicbxn oh my this takes me back I think I was twelve and one of my class mates came out to our farm with his dad. he wanted to play with me so I was okay until I turned around,he had deliberately stuck three cat food cans on three of our tabbies and they were so scare they kept running and bumping into things. that boy was an idiot and just stood there laughing,I was furious and so was my grandpa who helped me to corner them and get the cans off their heads. oh my was Grandpa mad at that stupid boy. His father grabbedf him and laid a couple of hard swats on his butt. the kid quit laughing then. What a cruel thing to do . I never wanted him to ever come back to the farm again.

Many years ago my ex and I had several black cats...Pantha, Papa, Pica, Puma and Pasha. One day Papa was running into the house as I slammed the door and it broke his tail! Poor thing! We took him to the vet and they amputated the tail. I felt sooooo bad!!! It looked so weird, too...at a right angle halfway down the tail. At least the fridge door had a soft rubber liner on it so it didn't break Nef's tail. But I do feel for her! Poor Nef! Bad Mommy!

Well, I don't think so. Not till the extend of throwing up. Haha! Sorry, but I think I wouldn't mind seeing my cat howl sometimes. If I have a cat though. I would love to disturb them. But then , maybe that would be too extreme. So maybe not. Haha.., I sound sadistic right? Sorry bad joke then. She blamed the door? XD in what sense? Scratch the door? XD I think she would forgive you alright. Haha! Be careful next time then.
