i stumbled upon a yahoo article about how facebook sells its members' private information to advertisers.
It really made me sad, they wouldn't be facebook without us!
Facebook is going to "sell" users for $120 each
which is so sad, they don't even give half to us, the members who they are benefiting from.
They sell our info to advertisers that is why they are able to generate billions.
$4.50 per members' information sold to advertisers.
when you "like" "suggest" they are also gaining from it
Facebook a creation of a genius for good purposes as he said, is now a social disease. everything about our accounts are sold to the highest bidder.
I am so upset zuckerberg. I thought for once someone wanted to make something meaningful and not just because of the money, but he turned out to be someone who is blinded by money.
thank you mylot for being not greedy and sharing with us what you have. I think I'll delete my facebook account.

I read a page about facebook and how they gain from us, but nothing to do with selling our information. It had something to do with our location but that was it. I doubt very seriously that facebook sells our information, whatever source said that must be fibbing. If they were it would have happened a long time ago and we would have already found out.

Lol is that true? If so it is really dangerous, probably due to this our indian government is going to ban some such sites, facebook is getting so popular here, even mobile phones have it inbuilt..
Best of luck.
Happy posting, cheers.

That is sad but the internet is one big open world. Anything can happen so everyone is responsible for whatever we put in here. I don't really like faceboook to begin with. I have an account but I am not active. I just open it when I have nothing better to do in the net. There are sites that pay us, so it is better to be active in them than in facebook.
I might not close my facebook account just yet, but I don't really give importance to it

I think it's fair enough. Sure, they wouldn't be facebook without us, but without them, we wouldn't be able to network with our friends the way we are now so used to doing. It's fair that they get something back, rather than just provide a service that would cost them a lot, and we still don't have to pay anything. That's not the way the world works unfortunately. But I think they should let us know rather than being so secretive.

Everyone has to eat. Everyone has to make money. Zuckerberg and Facebook are no different.
Facebook has over 3000 employees. Professional artists, designers, coders, programmers, and so on. Further, it also has dozens of the newest, fastest, highest quality computers running on dozens of high speed network connections, in order to make all those facebook games, and pictures, and videos, all run perfectly, and quickly.
Facebook has instant chat with people. Has large photo albums that allow you to post almost an infinite amount of pictures. Has dozens, if not hundreds of games you can play.
When you compare all of the completely free services you get from Facebook, to the 3ยข a post you get from mylot, it's not very comparable. You get far more from Facebook for free.
Remember, Facebook has enough computer power for over 830 Million users. Mylot isn't even close to that.
Yes Facebook is making more money, but you are certainly getting a lot more from them, then you are from mylot.

Really? Do you believe that stuff? Though it is better safe than never. You have a choice to delete your account. By the way, could you give the link for that article you read so I could read it myself? I cannot believe you had specific numbers. I still believe in the integrity of facebook and it does have its advantages on communication.
We make our choices and have our opinions.

Don't you wish sometimes that no one had anything to hide ?...I mean , everyone was normal with behavior and hobbies and all...
Well , I don't think they actually break into our accounts with our username and password ...Or do they ? Actually , I had a warning from facebook that said someone near mexico tried to log into my facebook account.
I hope it has nothing to do with facebook management. Now , my password is totally random and strong (as their definition).
About facebook earning money with selling our information , I guess it has to be investigated because it can involve privacy breaking laws.
