In the past people said once you were near-sighted, you should wear the glasses all the time. Otherwise your eyesight would become worse. However, I think that wearing glasses all the time will have a worse eyesight. It is fine that you just wear glasses whenever it needs.

You have to get used to the glasses. I don't think that wearing them all the time will necessarily hurt your eyes. If you have a real problem then you need to wear them when using your eyes. I don't think you will have a problem if wear for long periods after you get used to them.

I am not sure that it could worsen the eyesight more if you wear it everyday. I am near sighted and I do wear my spectacles everyday. And whenever I go out, I put on my contact lenses. I used to not wear any of these two when I am still not use to both - but that has worsen my eyesight.. from -1.25 and -1.00 it became -3 and -2.75. If only I could have followed the advise of my opto before my eyesight will be a little better. Now it has been 3 years since I obeyed what was advised to me, and til now my eyesight;s power is still the same. Thankfully it's not increasing anymore.

I've had glasses since fourth grade and I wear them absolutely all the time.(sometimes,I'm embarrassed to admit even when I sleep) I can give you 100% guarantee from my experience that your eyesight will not get worse from wearing glasses all the time.

I am a near-sighted and wearing glasses. In my opinion, I needed the eyeglasses to see clearly. But I don't think wearing it may make your eyesight worsen. The one that causes poor eyesight is radiation exposure like watching too much t.v and cellphone frontin'. Hope you got what I'm pointing out.Godbless! :)

I have to wear glasses but only when I am working on the computer of if I am driving at night, otherwise I don't need to wear them. I believe that being on the computer too much has had a detrimental effect on my eyesight, I also believe that it's wear and tear and old age that has the greatest affect on your eyesight, not the wearing of glasses all the time, glasses improve your sight, not wearing them will strain your eyes which will deteriorate them further.

I am a specky woman but I don't wear my glasses all the time. Since I am shortsighted I only put on my glasses when I go out as it is uncomfortable to walk around with blur vision. I have no idea though that wearing glasses all the time will worsen the eyesight.

My mom gets up in the morning and doesn't put on her glasses sometimes for 2 hours...one Sunday she didn't realize until we were already at church that she had forgotten her glasses.
Myself, I put mine on first thing in the morning, and if they aren't on the headboard of the bed I start to panic. Sometimes the cats knock them on the floor.

hi youless,
i am sure it is not the eyeglasses but its the lifestyle you have that makes the eyesight go worse or better.
also if you are sick of diabetes then the eyesight is affected too.

dear youless, its better to follow the advise of your ophthalmologist, there are cases that you really have to wear your eyeglasses most of the time to correct your vision. :)

Hmm, I don't really know. When I was younger I had to wear glasses all the time to correct something with my eye and it had nothing to do with my vision. Now, my eye doctor prescribes reading glasses because my eyes focus too much and then the focus lines cross paths and makes my eyes hurt. But, whenever I wear the glasses, it seems to make my eyes hurt even more and then I'm straining my eyes while I read. So, I've given up on the glasses and I don't use them, I just can't read for long periods of time.

As someone who wears glasses and has worn contacts for all my life. I was diagnosed at 18 months of age with issues that stemmed from a crossed eye to myopia to astigmatism. Personally, I do not have a choice but to wear my glasses and/or contacts. I cannot drive, play sports or actually see anyone at normal distance without them.
I believe your information is clearly not correct.
