I have travel plans to Singapore this coming March 2012 for about a week. I would appreciate if you could give me helpful tips on destinations, what to see and what to do, accommodation, itineraries, tourist traps, restaurants, etc. I will be traveling alone and contemplating on staying in one of the best, well kept, clean and safe hostel. Any input from you will be very very helpful. Thank you.

I have visited Singapore three times and really like it there. I recommend you see the merlion and the harbor. The man made beach is lovely to visit. The shopping is superb and many bargains can be picked up. I headed to the area where all the backpackers hostels are. I got a dorm bed each time I was there. On my last time there I went out for an enjoyable walk at the national park. Whilst there I was careful not to feed any monkeys. Singapore likes good behavior and it has fines for things like feed a monkey. I hope that you will have a wonderful time.

Yes, the merlion is a must being the icon of singapore...I never heard that there is a man made beach there and the monkey feeding is also something new to me. I intend to stay in a hostel only as i only need a bed to sleep during the night.
Thanks Maximax for your contribution.
