Feeling somewhat out of place here...

I've always wondered how people could find enough interesting topics that they actually feel like replying to, to get to 10k+ posts, when I find only one or two truly interesting topics per week... if I'm lucky. Most of what I see are repeat questions, hoaxes, IS THIS A SCAM OR NOT questions (which are also repeats), and questions that can be answered in half a line. And sometimes, posts that seem like they were made by spambots.
Well, I just checked the "my interests" page... Seems I just have unpopular interests. A lot of them haven't had new topics for months. The only like interests of mine that get regular posts are the general ones like "questions and answers" and "internet". It's making me feel a wee bit out of place, like myLot is designed to attract other groups of people and I just wandered in by accident.
Well, I'm sure that feeling will pass.
So, anyway. Do the rest y'all feel like your interests are similar to those of the myLot majority?
If no, which interests of yours do you feel are neglected and deserving of faaaaaar more attention than they're currently getting on myLot? (Like, I don't know, knitting? Kite-flying?)
If yes, feel free to tell us why you think your interests are awesome and why we should add them too. :3

I don't use the interests to find interesting topics as much as I use other tabs. The 'recent' and 'hot' tabs for example are where you will find a wide variety of topics and in the 'hot' list you will see those which are getting the most recent activity too with a lot of banter back and forth. I would rather get involved in that than just making responses all the time. I like interacting whenever I see something that looks like fun and commenting back and forth is more interesting for me, especially when I know that the users are here right now.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the thing is though, having a wide variety of topics there doesn't necessarily help me find something that's interesting to me. Instead, it means I probably have to sift through more topics that aren't interesting to me just to find a few that are. And even when I find something that seems interesting, if it's not within my interests, that generally means it's not something I'm familiar with. So I often can't really be sure that the information posted by users is accurate.
I do actually check the new/recent discussions list, but a lot of the time, I see repeat questions or questions that are just plain weird.

If we are discussing then surely opinions, rather than accurate information, is what should inspire us to participate?
To gain the benefits of the 'recent' tab you should refresh it often as it changes as soon as anyone posts something anywhere here.

I do not confine myself to my interests. I read most of the discussions and reply wherever I feel I can contribute at least a few points. true many topics are repeated and it is worth responding because different people see things from different perspectives.

hi ravi on a cold sunny morning in S o uthern 'california. I do not like to limit my self to just my interests. I find a lot of interesting discussions that I can add my thought to and make '
new friends and maintain all my old friendships here. I am
very rarely bored as I look at each day as a new gift, I am
alive and on mylot where all my friends are. To feel welcome'and
one of the mylot group to me is just fantastic. I even learn new
things here every day and I w ill never be too old to learn.

Actually, I meant repeated topics like "what's your favourite browser/fruit/search engine", topics that usually get one-line answers and no real discussion. I wouldn't mind posting in a repeated discussion if there was some actual discussing going on, because you're right in saying that people can present different and new viewpoints.

inedible"" I follow what you say. But even these discussions are a necessary part of the forum because players are different.
this is similar to a movie being played six times in a day in a popular theatre. Even 2 1/2 hours same scene will come and the theatre employee may feel bad. But the viewers are different and in every show either they enjoy or suffer.
Probably even this type of disucssion responses would have appeared earlier in mylot say in the past one year or so.
good day

I've just come back to mylot after a couple of years away (during which I was doing an awful job that sapped all my brain power, but never mind) and it does seem as though a lot of the "interests" I used to spend time on have fallen by the wayside.
I still find things I want to comment on, or at least can be helpful with. Like the other responders, I tend to poke the "new" tab a lot. I guess the best thing to do is to start discussions in the topics we enjoy. If we post them, they will come XD

well you could try to scan some old discussion which are original and not a repetition. you need to search for your interesting category to find those discussion and response from it. then you could decide to pick those whom you find interesting and n that way you could avoid replying to repeated discussion. for example f you like to reply to topics about love, then you have to add such interest to things you like. it s easy to search for them and pick the topic you intent to reply.

You just have 50interest that's why you are limiting yourself i guess
add more interest and you would see that you would find lots of interesting discussion to take part in
also check out hot topic, today top, recent to find more discussion, another way which i use is search engine i search for topics like 'clixsense for example' and then take part in discussion related to what i am searching for

I never thought of looking at "interests "to find discussions,I usually check the myLot digest, and if I find something interesting or something to which I have an opinion, then I comment.am getting also fed up with the many posts about how to make more money without doing anything!!! When will people get the message that "you get nothing for nothing!"

Haha, well, there are plenty of people who are attracted to myLot only because they want to be paid for posting, so yeah. When I first joined, I was actually surprised that there weren't more of those posts. I has half-expecting a place completely filled with spam.

Honestly I'm not really that particular whether the topic is interesting or not. As long as I could relate to it, I mean as long as I have something to say about it then it's fine with me.
I think members of mylot are not that meticulous enough about the topics they share. My own personal observation is that, since this is a "you can earn" site, its not important anymore, or shall I say not that important, to choose the best topic to post but what is essential is the number of posts/replies one has to make everyday in order to earn.

I just look in the discussion tab and see what's there. It's not hard to find something worth replying to. Although it's true that there are many repeat discussions, you have to expect that since there are many people on the site and of course they will start similar discussions. I find many discussions that are like "help me start out on MyLot" every day.
Not all discussions will appeal to you but you don't really need to be interested in the topic, just if you have something worth saying then say it. Btw I think the noodles section needs more activity lol.

I know how hard it is to find interesting topics. I need to respond to 25-30 discussions every day in order to make payout in a month. But, even if I spend hours on it, I will come up with 5-10 things I want to contribute to. It is not a lack of interest. I have a wide variety of subjects that I work on. But, I still can't find enough discussions to meet my simple goal.

Hello inedible,
Even i too don't check out discussions by going in to particular interest. What i do is i go to "top discussion","hot discussion","new discussion" or "recent discussion".I think you too should not find out the discussions by going through the interest may you will get lot more intersting discussions by this.

sometimes i feel like that when no one responds to a discussion i started. but i think it's not surprising, since that discussion i wrote was not put under a famous interest. so, i usually make discussion under major interests like mylot, people and making money. those kind of discussions never go away, so there is are a few i can reply to everyday.
and i ignore repeated questions like the ones you have mentioned. and i scan through discussions once in a while to search for answers for my own questions, which i think could be a question someone already asked here before.
anyway, it doesn't really matter how many responses we get. just about 10 or so is enough. better than no response at all right? usually, i notice that those with the most responses are the old discussions already, written a few years back. with the population here in mylot growing each day, it's no surprise that they would encounter such discussions every now and then to answer to them.
