Hey fellows I would like to share an incident i came across today. I was watching a news channel today when it was being showed that many countries of the world are fighting with many serious and distinct problems. One fighting with unemployment and corruption while others fighting with problems like population explosion, poverty etc etc. Then i got struck by a question. The question was simple yet tough to answer- "Which is the best country in the world?" By best i do not mean that it should be monetarily at the top of others or at the peak in terms of defense or technology etc. By BEST i mean that it can be considered as an IDEAL country or i should say NEAR IDEAL country which can be referred as a country having a good balance of everything i.e. agriculture, economy, political stability, security, crime, culture and religions, medical and infrastructure etc(whatever can be related to a country as a whole). I expect my fellow mylotters to participate in this discussion.:)

It's really hard to answer to be honest. Each country has advantages and disadvantages, successes and problems. There are ratings in the world currently that shows a few center European countries to be topping the list. I am from Canada, though we have plenty of problems like taxes, we aren't too far off, well in the shell at least, but deep into the shell we're probably as bad. But I can't complain too much in Canada as of yet, hopefully things get better soon in the world. Also We have free healthcare, and doesn't matter how much USA makes fun of us for it, it works for us. Yes the wait is long, but that is dependent on the population of your location. There really can't be a doctor for every person. Cheers!

i got your point mate and its so good to hear that there are countries which take care of its' citizens by the way of providing free healthcare to them. Obviously population plays an important role in determining such things but there are countries like china which is doing such a great job even after having largest population in the world. Israel has least population but it has the largest and most advanced army etc(i have heard somewhere). By the way, taxes are high in ur country probably because healthcare needs lots of money.:)

There is no perfect country in the world. What is perfect depends on how demanding you are! or how flexible you are and capable to make a paradise out of your own life, no matter where you live.

saurabhreigns I just do not think any of the countries is that perfect and idealistic at all. right now my own country is theUS where we are free but we are facing the worst unemployment in many years and the country is divided, half ar democrats half republican who say us democrats are horrible and this and that. I say for goodness sakes we are all Americans first and human beings, let quit the damned fighting. so I used to think America is pretty close to perfect but honestly its no longer that ideal.I still love this country and its close to perfect. come and see for yuourselves

I agree with you and america has been one f the most pronounced countries of the world but dont you think that what US govt does is for their own country only. They always want to play a safe game. I mean when pakistan or china does anything ill or wrong which can posses a threat or a security issue to India as a country, US seldom comes on front and say it loud that they are wrond and they should not do it etc. .However if it comes to america's benefits the US prez comes in front all of a sudden and declares on the global platform that India (or alike) is great and i am happy to have such a country as our business partner(or whatever). I am not offending or imparting a personal comment.I am just telling(with due respect of course) what i have heard and observed. I am sorry if any of my words hurt you.:)peace:)

There is no perfect or near perfect country in the world! All countries have their issues! Some are worse then others! I live in the USA. Alot of people around the world think the USA is perfect or ideal! No we are not! We have are share of problems! We are far from perfect! We never have been and never will be! I wish people from other countries would realize that!

There is no such place as perfect country in this world. If there is, then you can find it in dreamland. Every country has its own flaws, a country has its own strength and weaknesses.

It'd be easy when we knew the countries in details in terms of all aspects. I thought UK would be the one but then I realised that the crime was still high there. I hope someone here would come up with at least 5 countries to be the best 5.

i do not see anything perfect, since human mind has the tendency to be corrupted. nothing perfect for me exist and they occur only in a dream. with widespread corruption and capitalism. man greediness increase and other country suffer from it. f ever their is near perfect country they are very few. most could still commit mistakes and blunders especially coming from government leaders who s suppose to serve their countrymen and yet they get to serve their pocket.

Yes, I'm sure we'd all like to escape to such a perfect or near-perfect country. So, I'm going to give you an answer of the one that fits your description & I know you'd like! Ready? This country is listed as having the lowest level of corruption in the world for years, it isn't too bad for all the other criteria you have mentioned either, though there's some important ones you have missed. Can you guess where it is? Here's a clue... it's not Australia, which is ideal for me, but maybe not for some. I reckon, taking the points you have mentioned into account, New Zealand would be well worth it for you. Housing prices are very cheap, education is cheap, sheep are absolutely everywhere & out-number people 20 to 1. Just stay away from Christchurch for a bit due to the earthquakes which have been going on for many months now, & you'll be fine!

I was doubted there would be a perfect country in the world. I thought USA is the most perfect country in the world, but I read yesterday that USA has the highest poverty in the world. I firstly assumed that in USA, there was no poverty problem there, but in fact not. They are facing the highest poverty problem. I came from Indonesia and we have millions of people under the poverty. There are about seventy five million people under poverty. Each country has advantages and disadvantage and we have to accept that. Okay.

I do not think that there is any perfect country in the world. Every country has it advantages and disadvantages. It is hard to really determine what qualify a country as better country than others. In most of the cases, there is so much exeggerations about different countries, making it impossible to judge any country on real matters..

Oh this is hard, I don't think there is one ideal country at all. Well, maybe there is but it would be different for everybody. I mean, for me, the perfect country would be the country where there is no crime but I don't think there is one.. I would also want a country that is so clean, where you cannot litter even at your own home And a country full of happy and good people would also be perfect for me! Now maybe that is not a real country but a dream country instead!

I don't think it's a country but Tahiti seems to be a nice place to stay but I don't think it's ideal to live there because your to far from the city, or I think the next ideal country to live in is China, agriculture is good, economy is going up,politics is good, medical is good and it's getting better. the only bad thing is that they banned facebook in that country when I went there last april that's the only problem I had :) try living in the Philippines everything is cheap if you know the right place to stay. but there are also a lot of thieves here so if you're not willing to risk your valuable never go in Manila area :) just go to provinces like Palawan or Sagada that's your best option but it's also not ideal because your to far :)) =)) so I think that the Ideal place to live is the place where you were born where you know a lot of people, you got lots of friends, where you can visit your relatives and the last thing that's good about it is you won't need to buy a GPS because you already know the place :)
