No this isn't about a sandwich or food. Note the first two letters and you'll understand what this discussion is about.
I love my job, I really do, kind of? Okay the truth is I really do love my job, suire there are some customers I could do without sometimes, but it's not all that bad... but I need a new one.
At work they've started to not give us breaks sometimes, and other times we have to tell them it's time for us to go home. Which means we're on the register for longer because we can't just stop what we're doing and be rude to a customer..
but then whoever we call over gets irritated at us. I'm sorry that you get irritated, but ya know, it's time for me to go home. After your shift you want to go home too, don't you?
I clock in early every day by five minutes, they don't mind that. I'll even clock in earlier if they need me to get carts or something, that's fine.
Today I clocked in early by like 15 minutes, and then clocked out later by 15 minutes. This is my thing, if they get fined for it, oh well, it's not my fault.
I am going to search for another job, so the apartment is postponed. I'll still be saving up money, but I'm not going to worry about getting the apartment quite yet.
Anyone else had a BS day?

I know you have been working so hard to get an apartment. It is hard living with family and having a place of your own shows independence so I am sorry that you have to delay the move. I know working retail can be hard especially when you have customers who yell and then management who hates to come over and see what you need. I worked retail one year during the Christmas season and it was a pain. I had told my employer three weeks in advance that I could not work one particular night because I had two final exams the next day and that I was willing to work the day shift. Well, the schedule came out and I was scheduled to work from 5PM until midnight. I went to my immediate supervisor and said here is a copy of my letter and your response that says I will not be available at night on this day and the response said okay I will schedule you from 1PM-5PM. My supervisor was mad and called me a liar and I said you could I be lying if I have the letter saying this and you also responded. Needless to say I ended up staying at work until midnight and then went home and studied all night.

I don't know that I ever want to work retail again. It can be awful, if not the customers then the work conditions. Don't get me wrong, work conditions were pretty wonderful up until Christmas Season which I can understand, but now there's no excuse.
I don't understand bosses who see the truth right in front of their eyes but still want to deny it, it makes no sense to me.

Why would they get fined? You are not a minor. I do believe you should be on the clock if you are working, though. I clock in when people call me and want me to come in to the office for a meeting. I am not going to drive out there and take my time for nothing. If you are going to hunt for a new job, it is good to do it while still working, though.

I know I have had jobs where we clocked out and in on our breaks to prove we got them. . . I was thinking more of the overtime. Yes, management can scream about it, but if they ask her to, then it is management's problem. They had best pay her. On the other hand, there are jobs that regularly offer overtime and others that have mandatory overtime.

I Don't know, was just told that they would. I do clock in whenever they need me to do something, I'm not going to do anything off the clock, plus that could cost me my job. I will definitely be keeping this one until I find another one though.

Different states and provinces have different laws about how long anyone, adults or students are allowed to work without a break. This break may be a paid break or not. There are also laws about how many hours you can work in a week before they have to pay you overtime. These things can result in employers pressuring you not to clock in for certain parts of your shift in order to make it look like they're following the laws, which is bs. You should be paid for every minute you work, and get the breaks you're entitled to.

True, but retail can be worse. It was pretty wonderful before Christmas, and I understand around Christmas, but after it? Yeah it's gotten even worse.

Whoever is supposed to take your spot, it's that person's job to do it. That person needs to get his or her butt in gear. They need to hire some people that a clock means something to them. Maybe the 1/2 hour extra will get noticed and they'll start going over and relieving you.
I hope something changes. It is a good idea to try to find out what is out there for work. You might find something really neat. That would be cool.
But nowadays, they think you can't find another job and so they treat people worse and worse. Now a good thing.

Just my usual family stuff. My grandson is all about himself. My daughter is too pretty much. I am on SS and she is too. I pay for the groceries and today we went to get them. She gets herself a bunch of extra things so again I am broke. When she gets her child support she gets herself too. So I need to be more strinct with her so i can get me afew things. Ugh!

Yesterday was such a day at work.
I work in an office with just 5 people. One is always on the floor, and two are owners. There was some issue at one of our customers so there was a heated argurment between one of the owners and the other person that I work with (she doesn't get fired even when she lashes out to the owners because apparently she is good at what she does).
There was so much BS flying around I had to duck most of the time!

I have days at my job where is bs too. I have lazy co workers and i work in a hospital and register patients that come thru. Theres 3 people that register during the day. 2 of them slack off and I get stuck doing the work because their to busy on the pone or talking and not taking any patients. Or when you ask them to take patients they say no so you get stuck with them. It gets very frustrating. I'm ready for a new job too but nothing has come up that I like. I still search daily and I probably can't get one making what I do now so that's part of why i'm staying there and just sticking it out. Atleast they know who really does work though.
