Party on!

I know there has been discussions about the Super Bowl, but this is actually about more than just Super Bowl parties. Do you have event parties? For instance, my parent's neighbors host a big party every time the show Survivor has a season finale. And those people host some loud parties. If my parents didn't like them so much it would get really annoying. The church I attended several years ago used to host Super Bowl parties. Obviously, attendance in church on a Super Bowl Sunday evening is low. So the church would just set the service a little before the game started, and have a short, 15 minute devotion. Then everyone would go into the gym (a Christian school was attached to the church), and watch the game and have snacks and stuff. We were made aware at the church I'm at now that it was actually illegal to have everyone come to the church and watch the Super Bowl. Certainly the chances of us getting into trouble were slim, because it's not like people are going church to church searching for people to call out. I can't remember what it was, but maybe someone will know. It's something to do about it not being legal to gather large groups at certain facilities to watch on a large screen or something. I know that sounds stupid, but I remember reading it myself. Anyway, although no one cares about it, we did quit doing it because it kind of looks bad for a church to do something illegal (ya think?) So what kind of parties do you go to or attend? I'm not a party person. Shocker, I'm sure.

I'm not a party person either, tho I think we used to throw a few good ones back in the day... I think its because its a "public performance" thing, but I doubt its illegal to have a large group get together to watch something on national TV (as opposed to pay per view like some boxing fights.) So, no, I don't think its illegal - otherwise sports bars would be out'a business! Now, if you got together and had a public viewing of one of the Harry Potter movies or Pirate movies and didn't pay for the right to do the public viewing - THAT would be illegal. My religion class (back in the dark ages) used to rent a movie (don't remember the film format, but don't think it was 35 mm but it might've been) and have the class watch it and discuss it, and that is allowed for the limited viewing, but if the entire school gathered to watch it for entertainment it wouldn't be.

No, it is illegal. The sports bar thing didn't figure into it. Because that was one of the first things I thought of until I read the wording. Darn it, I can't remember the exact thing. I wish I could because I know it sounds silly.

see, I can see that actually... The place my mom was at would have parties and stuff, but they had the TVs already and the folks who were there lived in the community (like apartments) and only family were there from outside the community.

I am not a party person. Just family gatherings mostly. I will be working during the SuperBowl, because someone else wants off, and I was offered an easy shift. It is all good, time and a half.

I am not one to go to a lot of parties either but I do go to one or two here and there. There is a party that happens once every couple of months where my b/f and his musician friends get together and play music. I like going and hanging out with the other non musically inclined people...LOL. I also went to my first New Year's Eve party in years this past one. That was interesting. Other than that..I am not really the party goer. I do want to start doing some new things in my life this year though. Maybe I will attend a few more "social functions" when I have the time.

Hi AmbiePam, I would not call myself a party person but I do like to attend certain parties every now and then. However I do not like parties where people become unruly and are so disrespectful to others...you know how people are when they start drinking that oilLOL I have never heard what you were explaining about not being allowed to have a large gathering at the church to watch a big screen..But like you said,it does sound a little wierd when there are church who run raffles a lot and that gambling, but its allowed..go figure..!!!!

I haven't thrown or attended a party in quite awhile. The last party I was invited to was your standard baby shower.

Oh yes, baby showers. A party full of games designed to either embarrass the mother to be or make the guests uncomfortable.
