Do higgs boson(god particle)really exist,if they exist they will solve the biggest rids of the universe.Scientists working at large hadron collider(geneva)believes that such a particle could exist in nature which can be the source of the mass for other particles,in LHS scientists collide particle nearly at speed of light(99.99999%)to generate new particles.According to the Higgs theory,an invisible energy field fills the vacuum of space throughout the universe. When some particles move through the field they feel drag and gain weight as a result. The first person to predict the missing particle was peter higgs,But still we are unable to find such a particle.Recently there was a news that We may have glimpsed the Higgs boson. There is definitely a hint of something around 125GeV but it's not a discovery yet........ This superb discoveries is one of the reason that why i love the physics world so much...

cern - working at cern
I can understand how scientists know that gravity exists, I know it is there when I fall out my bed. But where is the higgs bossom particle to understand it, now as they looking for it at cern. Did it fall on the floor? I don’t understand the statement, “not seen since the first trillionth of a second after the big bang” the lanquage is strange to say the least.

Its like that we know that higgs boson exists but it wants us to find it,its similar to hide and seek, scientists at CERN estimate that the god particle exists at 125gev(gigga electronic volt)i think they are not able to get this much of energy thats why higgs bososn is still a mystery, scientists at CERN say that we will definately find the higgs boson but it will take a lot of time(nearly this whole year)the existence of this particle was getting dimmer and dimmer but after the research of neutrino this was the first evidence which they got........................................................... Here there is nothing to do with neutrino with higgs boson,i mentioned it because it was the major news which striked the whole physics department, they are just waiting for the confirmation........

I have to say that I am very confused. I think I can understand that if you take stuff (matter) the very smallest part we call a particle (a sub atomic particle is smaller than an atom) and around a particle is a field we call higgs field. Now a higgs bosom is a particle that affects the field in such a way as to cause attraction between some particles which we call gravity and gives these particles mass. At least I think that is what scientists are talking about connected with CERN research. When we apply energy we excite the particles so that we are able to see the field because we are in search of this bosom. What I don’t understand is when we are applying energy is this not affecting everything? To me it is like making everything go crazy and then saying, see there is something there. Little wonder, we made it that way? I wonder what a higgs field is made of? Maybe the higgs bosom should be called the attraction particle because it sounds like hanky panky to me. - sorry just so confusing even from a basic knowledge level.
