I'm traveling by car next month from Wisconsin to Florida with my 8 yr old son. Any suggestions that I might find helpful? I have never driven this far by myself, although I do have the experience of a long road trip as a child and teenager. Please help with any suggestions!

Be ready to have some games in the car to make the children not bored. The second one, be ready to have enough snack and drink for them (in my country buying the stuff at traveling like that can cost much, so be prepare) the snack also help the children not bored. The third one do not pack too much luggage, give the children enough room to sleep. The fourth one be ready if the children ask too pee, make them understand the timing for pee.
I have not have child yet, but often go with my sister's children for 6-8 hours trip by car.
One more, make sure the car in good condition. If you got trouble, the children usually start to be noisy and upset.

I think that you should give your child a meal one hour before leaving for your trip. Whilst on your trip you should give your son some fresh air on the journey. You will need to stop for a rest every few hours. You could take some food and drink along for these stops. I am very keen on traveling with my 2 year old daughter and 4 year old disabled son. Good luck with your trip.

first, safety is the very first thing.you should be away from tired-driving,so you could talk to your son or play music while driving in case of not feeling bored,,,you can press pause when you found sth beautiful sceneries during the journey, and you need map if you go through a new city, talk to your son, making him find the road or giving out some places he wants to go,don't make him feel sleepy~~ wish you have a good trip
