hi ladysilver
Quite right. Sooner or later this is going to happen and I support it should happen. At least many people would be saved from falling into scams and all the ugly things. But of course, there will a loss of Information and Knowledge. I will also lose many friends as most of them exist online to me.
Whatever happens, the Internet is not free even today as we have to shell out some good amount each month to stay connected. That is one aspect.
The other aspect of Free what you mention, that will be sad and a loss for many. Still, if affordable, I will pay for using the censored Internet. Do we have a choice? I think not.

So would you leave all your online friends and other extra income sources (in case you work online)? (Hope I do not cross my limits asking this).
I ask this as I work only on Internet (due to health reasons) and also as I mention, I have a great set of friends online... I would not think to miss out their friendship dear.

No, you don't cross any limits.I understand your health condition and your dependence on this source, but if life would be the way I see it, you could relax in your chair watching the sunrise and you will get money you need because you are incapable to work. This is what society is all about. To give those who can't provide for themselves , and not to charge them for every move they make. That's what they do now all over the world.Being capable to do something, I would do anything.

Human rights. Well, it seems to me that they are getting lesser and lesser all the time. I can see the government doing something to restrict it our internet usage. They do what they want. They've done it in the past with the phone lines and cut our business relations off. They did this for weeks after Catrina happened.
If they can steal our social security savings from us, they can do just about whatever they want.

Nothing lasts forever.Power is indeed dangerous when it's in the hands of men without scruples.

You must excuse me if my answer might seem contradictory, but I do not believe that the internet "will turn off."
Today more than ever the internet is a window on the world and on the future as it was the TV.
I just can not believe that in the near future will not be possible to navigate freely.
That said, it's just my opinion, anyway we'll see.

It really bad that we are getting the sensored on internet but this is somewhat necesaary for the freedom of faith. In some countiries some laws donot permit something that must not be in that law. If people go against it then the sensering is important.
They must be a way throught which the freedom of people will retsin while solving the issues of copyright as well as other issues. I hope it might comes.

They use copyright as an excuse.Just like they use religion as an excuse for many actions.

I think the internet connection is not free, we pay for the monthly service so that we do have a connection. I think what you're referring to is that the knowledge and the features that we have in by using the internet. If that would happen, I think it would be so hard for people to adjust.

If we let that happen, and I know that many countries will do that, like mine, for example, we will be back in XIX century.

Internet is not really free for me, we are paying monthly just to have this service But then okay, I know what you mean... there has been this news about limiting or censoring sites. I do hope it won't happen, everyone has depended every little thing on the Internet, it's not ideal to go back to old age.

Imagine, Internet only for paying the bills and reading news selected for you by government media, would that be great? It's already a reality in some countries.

I believe sometimes now they control what you can see and what you cannot see without you knowing it. I believe they let you see only certain stuff and trying to control the people now. I think there is no freedom of speech or anything that is not known by the higher ups. They either want the money themselves or a part of it. So sad what this world has become and so sad how people treat others because of one bad apple it has rotton a lot more. I pay for my internet and phone together. I guess if they get to strick I may leave it .. although I do enjoy the friends on the internet . But some abuse it and make it hard on others.
