are you a person of paying too much to "face problem"?

face problem,i mean a matter of pride~Here's the thing,during the chinese new year,we often visit relatives and friends' house one by one with gifts(traditional thing).so you will get gifts and give gifts out.and this would cost you money.my parents always get presents from personA then sent this present to another B,when he visit A,they'll bring with a present from person C.but i got a tragic story from news,a wife of a new weds committed a suicide with sleeping pills by feeling too bad about costing too much on buying presents.they bought expensive gifts to their parents or parents in law and other relatives and they get less.well,luckily,the lady has come to life~ i really don't like this exchanging presents tradition,these pesents are mostly well packaged,the real use doesn't match the cost.but any way it's a tradition,if visiting without gifts would be impolite and cause "face problem",so i think my parents are doing the right thing.anyway, face problem is much unimportant than life,the lady i mentioned is too stupid,so is her hubby~
