what we should do when there is earthquake?

there are a lot of things to prepare for the coming of an earthquake. you need to have an emergency light or flashlight, a first aid kit, bottled water and food like biscuits. these are very helpful but sad to say that when the actual disaster comes all these things are forgotten like what happened to us. when the earthquake struck us in Cebu all i could remember was to give cover and protection to my 81 year old mom.

nice question and very timely cause I was just teaching the kids what to do incase of an earthquake, we have an old solid wood dinning table that was a gift to my parents by some congressman back then during their wedding anniversary, we all hid under that table every time there was an earthquake, the only exception was during the ruby tower collapse cause it happened during the early morning, we all hid under the same table during the Baguio quake in the 90's, so now I teach my kids to go under the same table when they feel a jolt, the problem is they had never experienced a strong earthquake, so if it happens while they are at home and I shout "earthquake"! we will all go under the same old reliable narra table

Hi canetecheryl, This is hardly possible to make notion as to when earthquake would strike. But the geologists have made prediction which places are more prone to Earthquake. Still we can remain alert. First thing one should not be panicked. If you are living in the muti storied building see that the lifts are in working condition and soon you run to an open place. This is better to keep parachute like things to keep at hand so that in case of major earthquake you could jump down. Switch off all electronic appliances. Second thing you try to save yourself first and then, if possible give your hand to others who are trapped.

If there is an earthquake, avoid places near buildings, trees and glass. You also need the basic survivor kits like food, water, flash light, batteries, first-aid kit... I am sure about the rest but it's better to know how to do first aid too. The first aid kit is next to useless if you know nothing about first aid in the first place. How are the people affected by the latest earthquake in Visayas, by the way? I don't trust our news because most of the time they are information that came from secondary sources already.

Hi friend, Really earthquake is very dangerous natural disaster, and no can find coming time of earthquake. still now the scientists also cannot search the time of earthquake, its from God. I heard when world will reach to the end that day will hard earthquake.

What we must do depends a lot on where we are. I have been told that an eathquake should be very big (a cataclism) to uproot trees, so that trees are not harmful. But we must beware of manmade things. In my country, an earthquake country, houses are usually well built so there`s not so much damage, except in very old buildings. I prefer to stay under a beam at home.

Natural catastrophes like earthquakes,storms etc cause widespread destruction of life and propetry around the world allmost every year.Since these catastrophes cannot be stopped from happening the only option left in our hands is to reduce the loss caused by such natural accidents,which can only achieved by proper awareness between the masses on what to do when they are facing such a crisis.in the case of an earthquake the best way to save life is to rush to an open ground out of the houses and far from the buildings.If there is no time for reaching the ground or the open space is far away then the best way is to hide under the tables and furnitures.
