If you say you want politicians to be honest, would you vote for one that said; "Well, I can't say much about what we will do when elected, to be honest most things are out of our control. Gone are the day when governments could control the economy; global corporations can largely dictate the terms under which they operate. A powerful press in the hands of a few crucifies any genuinely original thinking. Bankers and Stock Brokers have such power over the economy that there is little we can do to affect matters." all the best urban

To quote Mark Twain "An honest man in politics shines more there than he would elsewhere." - A Tramp Abroad http://www.twainquotes.com/Politics.html The question is not whether you would vote for one but whether or not you can find one. Would I vote for one? It would still depend on his views on the issues.

That's more than honest. It's foolish and looks weak. I'd like a more honest politician, but not a fool who doesn't know what to say and what not to say. I want lower taxes and not just a promise to do it. I want better law enforcement resulting in safer streets. I want better public schools resulting in more kids having the skills to be an adult. I want better foreign policy. I want more transparency. I don't want to hear about a politician dropping his drawers if it was consensual. His naughty bits on the side aren't anyone's business.

I don't think Americans WANT to hear that, they want to hear that it will get better, and we all return to Mayberry. It is a lie, but we all know that it is, but we all want to believe that someone can change it when we know they can't. Welcome to America!!!!

if he/she's really an honest politician or if ever there's one, I wouldn't be reluctant to vote for him/her provided that I can agree with the agendas that he/she possesses. Honestly I don't agree with the line: "one day, the Government would lose control over the economy". I am ambivalent about your meaning on this. because the Government, particularly the Executive Department are supposed to have the sovereign power( if not all )to control the economy of a country, it's one of the most vital aspect of task that they should focus and solve on.

I won't surely vote for politicians with such mindset. From their words, they indicate lack of leadership, vision and will to do something for the country and their constituents. These people are not worthy to be leaders for their words indicate submission to whatever happens. For me, a good leader should be able to know the problem, the effect and cause of this problem, the solutions that can be done to either solve the problem or mitigate the effect of the problem, and the manner of implementing the solution.

The honesty of these politicians when they say such words are superficial. True honesty in government is to be transparent, to be able to utilize public funds to what they are appropriated for and to implement laws and statutes with fairness and justice.

Most of us want honest politicians; however, honesty does not mean being able to create jobs or improve the economy. Leadership is what concerns me more at this time since a good leader can be more effective in uniting a nation and giving it back the previous glory. A lot is said during campaign periods and most of them remain to be empty promises.

I think honesty is the most important thing in politics, the people are the ones that vote for these people and the people have to know the truth about things, the truth about the people they are about to vote for, we the people don't know what they are voting for then they are voting blind.

Honesty...the word has little relevance in politics of the present. Which politician has the earnest desire to work for the welfare of the people. Most of the politicians of today grab thee opportune moment to amass wealth in enormity for themselves and their dependents. Politics is really synonymous with power and money!

What you must realize is that politicians most of the time cant be honest. First off they have the constituents to think of, with their wants and needs. If you can please them by saying a few words then you get a few more votes and lets face it, if I were to come up to you and say, hey if you vote for me, im gonna give you everything you ever wanted, you would probably vote for me if the other guy was saying things like, hey I will only give you half of what you want. Next you have to realize that most politicians do a lot of talking about what they want to do, but I am very, and let me be clear on this part, very happy that they cant control everything. Living in a society that is free is much better than any alternative and politicians can talk all they want, but they cant really change most of what goes on.

No I do not vote nor will I ever because I've yet to see an honest politician. The only one who can solve the problems of this world & put an end to unemployment, world hunger & bring about true peace is God Himself. Someday His heavenly kingdom(government)will put an end to all worldly corrupt governments & that's when this world will know true peace forever. Jesus himself spoke about this very government while he was on earth. Both he & His Father(our Father)promised this day would come & so it will. I look forward to that day.

The phrase 'Honest Politican' is an oxymoron, like 'Dry Martini' or 'Military Intelligence'. It doesn't matter who you vote for, the lobbyists will always get to them and slip them an envelope stuffed with cash and when this keeps happening, the government policies start to skew towards what is good for the lobbyists and then generally descends into corporatism or as Benito Mussolini more accurately described this behaviour, the merging of the state with big business is fascism........ The solution would be for the politicians to wear cameras and microphones all the time and be connected to the internet so that everybody could see what they were really up to........

I have not voted for a long time. It is not because I do not like voting but the problem is that I do not find any candidate who is worth my votes. Most of the candidates are usually far away from the main problem and focuses on other less important issues.
