hello every1,
Presently i have 2 OS in my Computer one in C, another in D drive. Both of them are having Windows Xp SP2.
Now the problem is when i try to open any drives in my system from the first OS(present in C drive) it shows me an "open with" dialog box except for C drive. due to this problem i have formatted and installed new copy OS for 2to3 times but the problem remains as it is. When it comes to 2nd OS it does have any problem at all and works fine. I have scanned with Kaspersky internet security 2011 and 2012 and found no virus or something.
Please help me with this how to overcome this!!!

Tried re-installing Windows on C-drive? It may fix the problem if not then you might need to format the drive. But I don't get what's the use installing the same version on the very same computer?

Hmm then it must be a virus called autorun.inf
Go download Autorun Eater from:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Autorun-Eater-Download-85585.html
Install it and it will remove the virus within a few seconds.

hello mpsingh
I need to run 2 OS for my project purposes and for playing games. Installing all these in one system slows down my PC to a very great extent. Thats why I use one for one my project purpose and one for other normal use.
Can U please tell me the procedure for doing this or can u send me the link to fix it.
Anyway thanks for ur response.

if you face this problem again and again then better you can first make a back up your data in external hard disk or write in CD/DVD or put in pendrives.
after back up first you delete all partitions and wait upto 6 hour because some temporary files are stored in RAM maybe those files creating problems. upto 6 hour do not supply power in your CPU and after 6 hour you try to format again. maybe your problem fixed.
if it is not work then try you system diagnosis option they tell you exact problem.
by the way how old your PC?

hi makemoneonline,
My pc is almost 4-5 yrs old. If the problem was due to the temporary files in RAM, the problem might appear in both the OS but the problem is with the first one only. second one is working perfectly.

it's exactly not correct because some file store in one OS some are second OS. so it is possible.
