From the times of galileo till now science always opposes the religion and religion opposes the science, when galileo believed that sun was in the center of the universe than the catholic church wanted to kill him because in bible its written that earth is at the center, today science doesnt believe in religion, the most popular scientist of the decade stephen hawkings neglected the existence of god,not only he there are many others who believe that there is no need of god to create this universe and world. For every opposition there is a reason science believes on proofs and religion on faith and ultimately science will only win..........
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind........................

True religion goes along in harmony with science. If you read Quran, the Holy Book of Islam, you will know a lot regarding science. You know that all things in the universe are moving without colliding with one another. This earth is moving at the same speed since its creation. There must be one that controls all of these. It's God.

Who said that there are no collisions in the universe, the matter in the universe collides everytime but there is also the property in universe which doesnt allow the matter to collide its dark energy which pushes the matter away from each other.Even our solarsytem had 100 of planets at its formation age but because of collsion only few planets are left and rest have turn to debris, that period was called the early bombardment period...........

that's the collisions of meteor but not the big planets like earth, sun, moon and other planets, you see. Since its creation, moon never collide with sun or the earth. You see the earth moves around the sun at the same speed without fault. Don't you know that our earth has a layer above to protect us all from being hit by all those meteors. Without that layer, life wouldn't exist.........

It doesnt protects us fully, sometimes the matter coming from outer space towards earth is so big that it dont burns fully when it enter the atmoshphere.Moon doesnt collides with sun or with earth and earth revolves at a constant speed because of the laws of physics that doesnt allow it to happen...............

They didn't really want to kill him, they only wanted him to shut up.
I teach physics and I don't really see the problem with religious scientists or people that believe in both religion and science. As long as you don't mix them, you're fine. One of my fellow students at the teacher academy is deeply religious and a brilliant physicist, but he keeps them apart. No problem whatsoever :-)

The reason why there are war between religion and science is that some people want to separate the two. People do not agree that science and religion is one and this result a war between the two. It depends on people of what they believe and it depends on what faith they have. As for me, they should not be at war because God also creates science. Religion is just an organization where people stay and of course, all of them have one set of idea about the concept of God.

In my opinion, science and religion are not contrary,They are consistent. It is God created the whole world. And it is HE make the world work .He made the world and he let people get to know the world which HE has created. Please see to it that science DISCOVER the theory of the world not CREAT it.It is unfair that people praise those who find the theory and show indifference to God who creats it.

Hello.I Believe in both science and god..Yes i have watched episode of stephen hawing telling that god did not create the universe...Michio Kaku told that Big Bang has arisen because of the collision of universes...He says that there are many universes...Then a question arises..where did the universes came from??there god comes...

Welcome to Mylot Hark.
Just now, i had been reading about Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. He is a Jesuit priest who tried to bridge the gap between science and religion. His theories were not accepted by the catholic church.. however so, very recently, Pope Benedict XVI has been agreeing on some of his philosophies. It is actually very complicated.. It makes my head ache.

I don't disagree to what is history for certainly there has been conflicting ideas always but I must say I disagree with the terminology in the discussion to say that the opposition is like a war going on. I am not in any way offended but have quite a different perspective on science and religion. Though history shows conflict existed I think it would have existed with or without scientists like Galileo. It just happened to hit the history books that way. Today I see vast distinctions between science and religion where the commonality only exists in people themselves.
