Just this morning we went to Health Center for D.P.T 1 Injection of my baby. I felt nervous because my mother told me that D.P.T 1 can give fever to all babies. So after the vaccination of my baby, he just cry then sleep for one hour. But after he sleep he cried out loud because the vaccination really hurts him. I can't help to see my baby crying and crying again. And now I am afraid he will get high fever. Kindly share some ways on how to lessen the pain of my baby.

hi there mommy! vaccine contains antibodies that is unknown to the baby's body. and fever is a good indication that the immune system of your baby is doing well because it acts up and alarm the body of the unknown organisms that have entered the bloodstream. fever is just normal. when his temperature reached 37.8 Celcius, give your baby paracetamol as prescribed by your pedia every 4 hours. your baby cries because of the vaccine that was injected and for some that part will be swollen, you always need to ask the doctor what will you do to lessen the swell. remember that keep the part clean to avoid infection. your baby will feel better after the vaccine disperse. :)

Getting fever with after vaccinations including the D.P.T 1 vccination is quite normal. You don't need to worry too much about it but just monitor it well and give your baby some fever/pain medication. Consult your dctor r pharmacist for the pain/fever medication if you are not sure what to give your baby. I know it is not easy to see one's child cry but the vaccinations are very important for children and they are for their protection. So, don't worry too much and just soothe your child and give your child fever medication....

Thanks for the comment mariab2000. That is true, it is really hard to see our child crying but the injection is for their protection. And as parents we need to follow.

As far as I can remember, my daughter's Pediatrician told me that most vaccines now are newly formulated. They don't give a fever like they did before. When my baby got her DPT, she didn't get the fever. In fact, she's very well. There's only one vaccine I know that really hurts and might give a fever. The Hepatitis B vaccine. When she got her Hepa B vaccine, I remember her Pedia telling me that she might get a fever. Hepatitis B really does hurt, even for adults. The pedia said that if she does get a fever, just give her a Paracetamol.

Hi sophiaraaine. I tried your advice. Paracetamol is very effective so that babies can overcome the pain of the vaccine. I hope all mother will follow your advice. Thanks for it.

As a mother, You should try to endure the pain that you feel. If your baby feels that your hurting he is hurt too. Fever during DPT injection is normal. It means that your child's immune system is in a good condition. The remedy for that is to let him drink an anti-pyretic. You can also try to the some warm compress to ease the pain.

Hi canetecheery,
You dont worry for baby, that the fever for short time and soon she will get recover for the fever, Said truth your mother often all babies suffer from fever from D.P.T.I Injection. Why the Doctor not told you to give the baby some fever syrup.

Hi thanks for the comment. We haven't got to the doctor yesterday. We had the D.P.T 1 injection at the near health center in our place. They told us, we must give some paracetamol to our babies every four hours.

I think it is pretty normal for mommies like us to feel scared whenever we think or know that our little ones going to get sick, or hurt. Just don't loose it and keep your head straight. As a mom we should always know what to do. During immunization, it is very common that they will get a fever, just grab the paracetamol and give the right dosage and your baby should be fine. :)

I agree with you that getting our child immunizations can be hard on us as parents as well. We don't like to see our children suffer or in pain. You can give him infant pain medicine that fits his weight for infant dosage. Or you can look up natural ways to help with pain for infants. Holding him and letting him know that you are there for him I'm sure will help as well. Keeping an eye for a temperature is a good thing as well.

Hi! It is normal for a baby to have fever when after DPT immunization. Just watch out for other bad signs like unable to feed or produces stools every now and then unlike the normal routine. They will really cry because it is really painful. Just continue to provide your baby's needs and see a doctor if you notice something unusual.

It is true babies can get sick after having a shot all people do its just because your body doesn't have that yet in our system. What you can do which most doctors should suggest for you to give your child if or when they start having a fever some baby fever reducer it'll help and keep them hydrated. If a baby doesn't have those vacations they could get even sicker then they are when they get one as they get bigger the less they will cry over having them done.

after immunization the baby usually can have fever..so after immunization i usually give my baby paracetamol "tempra" for pain and fever relief..this is what the pedia has advice and given..so just give your baby tempra, and after one day the pain and fever can disappear.this is what i did with my baby..
