How do you spot a myLot discussion that's gonna be deleted?

Today when I checked my mailbox, I saw two myLot notifications that said the discussion in which I replied to had been deleted. One is due to a duplicate post, while the other one, I don't know the reason. The decrease in my earnings was noticeable. ^^ Other than "duplicate post" or "nasty posts" or "referral links", what are the other reasons with which a discussion would be deleted? Also, if the reason is "duplicate post", how can you know if a certain discussion is already duplicated? (considering that there are so many discussions already) I just want to know how long-term myLotters determine if a discussion is gonna be more or less removed. Is there some kind of technique that you use? Time is precious, and I give my best effort on every response, so it's sad when one gets deleted. :'(

Hello anncherry, You need to read the guidelines thoroughly then you will be able to judge the discussions if violating the guidelines. It will surely take time but once you will have an experience you will easily make a difference. When i was newbie i also used to be confused but not now i easily differentiate such discussions and rarely respond to them.

My suggestion is that you read the rules of mylot first. There you can find rules in posting a discussion, most of it were violated by some here. Reading the rules might also help you to be cautious on posting a discussion, this way, you can make sure that every post you make are rewarded.

I try searching in the search bar to see if I can find a previous discussion on mylot. Maybe that will help you out some.

Well I think that it is safe to say when someone posts like about a dozen or so discussions in a row bang bang bang, in the same topic, that might be a red flag where some of them are going to be right into deletion ville. And obviously if the actual topic had one line in it to begin with, then it makes me rather wonder a lot of the time. At one time, I debated on whether to only respond who had topics who only had a certain number of posts, figuring they would know better. Of course, that was a fault assumption, as it would require me to be rather selective on my posts, thus creating more thought on my part, and given that I tend to be only able to get on myLot really early in the morning during these days, that might be a bit more thought. And not to mention the best of them is going to make mistakes. There need to be numerous red flags but barring that, sometimes there is a topic that deleted that violates something that we didn't think of.

megamatt still best yet is to read the guidelines and learn all the donts of making discussions. you might have to reread it a few times but all the don'ts are listed there if people would learn to read the guideline before starting a discussions.know what you are doing.

Based on experience and monitoring. A discussion gets deleted if it violates any of the Do Nots in the guidelines. Read the guidelines if you have not so you would be able to identify if that discussion is going to be deleted. It may take a while but the discussion will certainly be deleted. Take a look here then: www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx A most commonly violated DO Not guideline would be: Start discussions promoting a milestone, such as birthdays, anniversaries, reaching a certain myLot rating, etc. This is best celebrated via private messaging with your myLot friends.

I usually try to stay out of discussions where someone posted a referral link because I know it will be deleted.
