Do you wash you own laundry?

I have been living on my own for around two months already and it is still a challenge for me adjusting to the new life i have chosen. It was all the price i have to pay when i decided that i would like try living an independent life where i won't have to depend on my parents about everything. Giving up the comfort living i had and being away from my family was the price i have to pay for deciding to live my life independently. I was quite hard for me ajusting because i got used to a life where there was always someone who does everything for me like cooking food, doing the laundry, and buying all the things i need and even want. One thing that really challenged me is doing the laundry because i never did my own laundry before, but now im learning to do it myself and it was then that i realized that it was really quite tiring to do laundry. I guess it was just now that i appreciated all the hard work that our helpers do just to wash our laundry especially at home where there are around six of us that they need to do laundry for. How about you? Do you wash you own laundry? Have you also experience living your life on your own? Thanks for sharing guys.

I live in my own bungalow. I have a washing machine with direct drive and clothes dryer in my kitchen. I washed some clothing earlier today and it is currently drying in my machine. The towels are in the washing machine and when the clothes are dry they can go in the clothes dryer. My disabled son has blue plastic coat hangers which I hang his clothes on to. My daughter has yellow plastic coat hangers which I hang her clothes on to. I have wooden coat hangers for my clothes. I wash with a vegan friendly washing liquid for clothes. I clean the fluff out of my clothes dryer before each session it does of drying clothing, towels and bedding.

I don't mind to wash my own clothes or others. I have experience washing the clothes by hands and yeah, it's a tiring process but everything is easy when the washing machine come in handy now. Just put them in it and push the button. It's not a problem anymore~(^^) Don;t worry you will get used to it, cyclopz!!(^^)

Yes CT, with the available of washing machine, our washing laundry experience goes easy and fun. It is not so tiring as well. We just need to hand wash clothes that are very delicate. Hope you are doing fine there...

Yeah, certain clothes need more than just throw them into the washing machine. When I was in college and there is no washing machine I need to hand wash them and since it's not such a tiring process if it just involves a few pieces of clothes...(^^)

I have been doing my own laundry for many years, but I still remember the time when I started living on my own and taking care of all of the chores on my own. I had to ask my mother for advice about the laundry like which kinds of laundry that I have to wash by hand and which kind of laundry that I was able to wash in the washing machine. I use the washing machine most of the time, but I have some clothes that I don't wash in the washing mahine because the clothes would get damagad if I did that. Today I am married and wash my own clothes as well as my husband's clothes.

For the first time, when i started to wash my own laundry, same like you, i will need to ask my mother for advice. I make sure that i don't ruined any of my clothes. Because i ever mixed washed one white shirt with a colored skirt and ended-up the white shirt changed into a colorful shirt. I felt very sad regarding that incident, which loss my favorite shirt as well.

It is sad when you damage your favourite clothes by accident. I made that mistake, too, but I was more lucky than you because it was only a towel. It was white before I put it into the washing machine and when I opened the washing machine the towel had become very colourful.

Cyclo, since the very day i am working in a place far away from my home, i started to wash my own laundry. At first it is tiring and scary. Because if i am not careful and mixed wrongly the white and colorful clothes together, the end result would be scary. I had to let go some of my favorite clothes due to this mistake. After getting many advice from my mother regarding washing laundry, now i am doing fine with it. Now, i am using washing machine to wash most of my household laundry. I only wash the delicate clothes using my hands.

I got this experience a few times especially with my jeans. When we purchase the new one-I mean not the original type of jeans the color will fade off when we soaked it water along with other clothes. I always had that nightmare before. Now I washed them in separate pail and if it happen again it most probably be my sister fault as most of her dress made from fabrics color that easy to fade~(^^)

Well, currently I'm not living on my own, but I do my own laundry :p. There is no she in my family, only boys. Since I'm the eldest, my dad teaches me how to cook, do my laundry, clean the house and so. He says that it's an added merit to me in the future. Even so, I'm still living in the comfort zone. I mean, we're I not able to do the laundry for an example, my dad would be there. I'll never be tight financially even if I use my own money, as my dad would be there to supply me more anytime. I would want to be in your boots though, as I have yet experience these. It may sound foolish, but since I have yet to understand, I must try go out and try to understand the hardship of living alone. Going to the doctor alone, when you are sick, eating out when there is no food at home or so. So yea. Weird right?

Yes, I do. I've been doing it for years! LOL I also do the laundry at work. Not all the time though and usually just on the weekends...unless my boss tells me otherwise, that is. I've never actually lived on my own, although I sort of did when I was a teenager. With my mom being a single parent, she was always working. She hardly ever came home. When she did, it was for about 5 minutes and then she was off and away again. Other than that, I went from living with my mom to living with my husband...yep, even before he was my husband, so I was hardly ever alone! LOL Happy mylotting!

hi cyclopz. good to see that you're trying to live independently. it will be hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it'll definitely be better. as for your question, no i don't do my own laundry. i use to do that before with a washing machine and dryer but because of my busy schedule, i have to give up doing the laundry by myself. aside from the time and energy spent doing the chore, there is also the expenses of buying soap, detergent, and of course the water bill. nowadays, i find it more practical to bring my dirty clothes to a laundry shop. i've looked into the expenses that i incur with the soap, detergent, and electricity and water utility bills and compared it with how much i'm spending for the laundry and it is almost the same. what's more important though is the amount of time and energy i save. instead of doing the laundry, i can do other things that are more important. i can also opt to just relax and chill or spend time with my family, loved ones, or even friends.

no i dont. I have someone pick it up for laundry. I have the time but i just dont have the extra enegry to do it. I work at night and it can be that tiring. I also cant do it on my restdays since i need to clean my room and get a lot of rest and watch my favorite series which i can no longer do during workdays. I wash my undergarments though. And rarely, i was some of my delicate clothes.

Shamefully to say, I am still living under my parents' roof, and I am quite depend on them entirely even I am reach over 30 years of my life. And you know what, the only time I did my own laundry is that when my parents on a trip, and I was the only one stay home, without an option, I have to do my own laundry weekly. I also have to fold my own clothing when the laundry is done.

It's nice to know you've started to live your own life. I wish I could do the same. :) But since I was little my mom has taught me to take care of myself. Even help her with the house chores. Not only me, but my brothers as well. So everyday we worked together to clean the house. Since I was in Middle School, my parents asked me to wash my own laundry. I didn't mind as I knew one of my classmates did it as well. So I gladly did it and it became my habit. It keeps like that until last year. I became so busy working that I couldn't even clean my room (I mean tidy it up), even on Sunday! :( So I start to send them to laundromat to be dry-cleaned. But I still do my own shopping and buy everything I want by myself. So even if I'm still staying with my parents, I'm already half independent. Lol.

I've been doing my own chores for many years now but initially when I started I had to take advice and tips from my mother. Now that I have to do everything on my own, I really appreciate all the hard work my family used to do especially my mother. However, even though I have to do all my chores by myself but I love living independently and doing everything on my own and in my own way

Yes, unfortunately independence has a price, as I learned when I moved out of home! There is not only washing clothes, but also drying and ironing them! And one also has to remember sewing buttons when they fall off, or putting up hems when one buys a new pair of pants!

I stay in my university's hostel, so I need to wash my clothes often. I wash my clothes 2 times a week usually. It can be a bit tiring sometimes, but you'll get used to it eventually.

I would appreciate you for being independent. I also wash my cloths. I do it personally when I started to be independent. I have to do all those things in order to live and survive because I am too far from my family.
