Why do you care?

So I finally have a few moments to start another discussion and it is something that I do honestly question.
Recently, I have been reading a lot more articles online, researching and doing mini surveys at a family center and with some friends. So I decided to ask my fellow mylotters the same questions. Please honestly answer the questions for yourself and not anything you were told about these things etc. Also keep in mind that you wont live forever. I think that is a BIG point to keep in mind.
1. One of the topics I have been asking on is interracial marriage: Why do you care? Does it matter if the couple is of two different ethnic groups?(for all the people who will debate this there is only one race.. the human race.. and we all bleed the same blood, breath the same air, and die)
2. Whether or not someone is gay. Now just like any person you do NOT have to accept affections or attentions of anyone you do not wish to, but seriously.. why do you care?
-Before people start quoting the bible, this is why you PERSONALLY care. Keep in mind that not everyone believes in that book, your god (depending on religion) teaches you tolerance and to not judge for him as he will judge for himself the character of another person's heart and their life so you technically have no idea what he is going to do and if you try to judge for him you are making yourself look bad in the eyes of god as you believe yourself perfect and worthy enough of doing HIS job when he is god almighty, and I want to know why you care besides what someone TOLD you why you should care.
3. If two people who are married have an open relationship... why do you care?
4. If a person refuses to believe in what you do.. why do you care?
5. For the people that don't believe in eating certain kinds of foods, listening to the same music, etc. Why do you care?
6. The lives of celebrities and reality TV stars... why do you care?
My biggest question is... How does any of that make an impact on YOUR life or YOUR children's lives?
If you don't live any of those people's lives then why do you care? What impact is it making on you more than you just don't like it? A store uses a gay spokesperson, a black person becomes an american country singer, a latino woman becomes CEO of a large company, and so on. How on earth is this personally affecting you?
Secondly, people say it affects their children if they are exposed to it. At least 70% of children want and do go away to college and at least 90% move out of their parents houses and live longer than their parents. So no matter how much you try to stop them from seeing things, they will be introduced to it and might find they have no problem with it. You as their parent might, but the fact is your children will grow up and make their own decisions and unless you keep them locked up for life then things are not affecting them the way parents would like to believe. Whether you think its ok or not, if your child goes up and decides you were wrong they will do it anyway. You might not like it, but other than that its not affecting you since you don't live their life.
So yes.. how is any of that and much much much more impacting your life just because you don't like it? Isn't that just being childish?

I don't care about this all. Perhaps because I am raised different?
My father is black, my mother is white, they both have different religions. We have all kind of races in our family, they live everywhere in the world. They all speak more as just 2 languages. My husband is black my children are white and they are on a world school (many different races and believes). I don't care about so called vips, never been a fan of anyone. The only thing I care about is if I and my kids will be able to live the life we want, the life that makes us happy.
And yes I wonder too why people make such a big scene out of nothing. If you don't like it just stay away from it and don't waste your time and energy to stabb others. There are way more important things in life as interfering in the life of others.

Thanks for responding. I don't care about any of this either. Its so silly to me why everyone is so worried about everyone and what they do and they care so much about it that they want to change it or things like that. My parents are very mixed, my dad's a christian, my mom is non-denominational and I'm a wiccan. I am black to most people when they see me and my husband is white.
I must have been raised or taught the same things you were if none of this matters to me at all. I mean people are people to me. I want my kids to be happy as well and taken care of.
Those last two sentences you wrote are the absolute truth and I wish more people would follow them. Sadly... most people believe it gets "shoved" in their faces and they are "forced" to accept when they don't like it, and the sad thing is that those people usually go looking for it so they can complain.

Hi Aidalily,
I've always wondered the same thing. Why do people care about this sort of stuff? With all there is to worry about in the world and even in our own personal lives, WHY in the world would anyone care about who consenting adults are sleeping with? I actually did a discussion on this a couple of years ago asking the same thing and also asking them not to refer to the bible for their reasoning. What I got was either people who agreed with me or people who referred to the bible or blamed their religion. Interesting discussion. I'll be curious as to whether you get any responses from those that are against these things that have some good solid explanation.

1. I don't care. I even support interracial or inter-cultural relationships. People should be more opened, that way maybe more people would know more about other races or cultures and we would lose animosities.
2. I am not bothered by gay relationships. I only wish it was legalized everywhere. It should get less attention from the media. It's only bothering me because it's too talked about, over and over. Anyone should be able to do whatever they like with their own lives as long as they don't directly bother others.
3. I don't care about couples with open relationships. It's their own business who they want to see. The only think I'd care about is when a child is involved. I think children should live in a normal stable family before they discover the other sides of it.
4. I don't care about people's beliefs. I don't believe in anything, I don't like it when I'm forced to believe and I don't force anyone to believe or not believe in anything.
5. About foods: if it's a close friend or family member, case in which I can recommend certain foods that are healthy, or that are tasty, even if unhealthy, but just recommend not force it in, I don't care really, anyone can eat anything they like.
About music: I don't care and I don't judge by it, as I don't like to be judged by it. I listen to almost every genre, if the song is good and I like it. There are certain categories of people that listen to certain music and with it come certain characteristics or certain actions, it's connected in a majority of cases but as long as it doesn't bother me directly, I don't care and I don't judge until proven different.
6. I don't care about what stars do. I only wish media would not force ideas that are not there and would stop exaggerating stuff. That's the main issue.
About children, as long as one child is educated and opened to everything around them, at one point they can judge themselves, goodly or badly, about what they see. My care will only be to try and show to my children what I think is good and bad, but I won't lock them up in a cage or cover their eyes. Things happen eventually, everyone should be prepared.
