I had been working for at least 2 years in some private company. I'm sure i did my job well due to the results of my evaluation form which stipulates that i had already done much beyond the companies expectations. I had also been evaluate almost 5-6 times already yet there had been no great change with my status. Still i'm on contractual basis and not regular and my salary is still almost the same from which i had started 2 years ago. today, i just receive the contract for renewal, what do you think would be my appropriate action to this concern? is it right for me to ask on why there hasn't been changes on my employment status and salary?

it is your every right to know the company policies and rules. before one starts to work for an organization, he or she has to know things like how long the contractual period is, or if there are salary increases and at what point or reason, or the sanctions to violations, etc.

In the Philippines, almost all companies are in contract. The companies hired agencies, and the agencies hired men to work in them. Every five months they lay off their laborers and hired again. If you are a good laborer, sometimes other agencies make a regular worker on them. But the benefits that the laborer want will not be granted by the agencies because you are not a regular worker.

Yes that's true. But i'm not working under the agency. i am directly affiliated to the company. I'm trying my best to be regular because with that status, i can be secure not directly losing my job and earn more benefits.

There is no harm in asking. It would be really much better if you are going to ask so that you can know your status. It is one of your right to know more about your salary. Some employee, they try to submit a resignation letter and the reason is that they just wanted a salary increase. You should learn how to fight for your right.

Yes it is your right to ask about that or at least send a letter requesting for a pay raise. It is worth the try. Sometimes some companies are too stingy not to even give a raise when a staff is not even bothering to request for it. So whether they reject your request or not, I do think it is still better to try and ask them.

Hi there, is it right for you to ask for what you deserve. Try to ask for permanent status instead of contractual. I think you might get more benefits for that. If a company not treating you well, you have to look for a better one, which offers better. Good luck!

I'm with the similiar situation with you now. I started working at my current company before I graduated from college 2 years ago and are working much harder than I could expect, certainly there are high profits for my job. But the salary just stay at the minimum level. I just stay here since the boss treats me like family, and there's still no promotion or salary raise. I cannot stand it anymore and am looking for new jobs, wish me good luck and you too!!

I don't think it's wrong to ask. After all you have the right to know instead of keep guessing about it. Though I must say some employer hate this kind of questions. They think we're ungrateful and demanding when all we want is to clarify our status. It'd not like we're forcing them, we're just asking.

Hi! I think its your right to ask for a salary that is worth your job. But if the company do not have the enough resources to give it then you can't do anything about it. Nowadays it si really hard to find a job that has a good salary.

If you feel that you are worth more money and that you are doing all the work with little reward i think that you should confront your boss and discuss it with him.
