Getting referrals

I seem to be having a rough time to get referrals out there, and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have the site and I have a little bit of traffic, the content is good, but I don't know why in the world referrals aren't happening. I have even checked to verify information that I put to make sure that the referrals will come through my links that they are correct.
What are some of the techniques that you all use to receive referrals. I have tried many different methods but none really seem to be working for me. If anyone has any ideas, I know that they would be of great use to me. It takes a long time to build it up, but I'm hoping to see a little bit of revenue from all of the time that I have been putting into my sites and blogs.

I have used Craigslist. Just interest them in your opportunity. Don't use your website. Have them email you for more information. It works. Send an email to them with more info and your website.

I did try craigslist, and unfortunetly it is not working out well. i don't know why. A lot of people use Cragislist and they do well with it, but for me, well i just don't think it's for me. Thanks so much for the information.

friend i understand your feeling for i was feeling the same as you having a really hard time getting even atleast one referral, it seems like almost everyone out there know your site and been doing it also, although i knew that just by having referrals they might as well can work for you without even working for yourself but since i can't get it i just double my effort to do the job alone
