I sometimes see that readers bully a blogger by using his comment boxes. I feel bad about it. Once, I wrote a post about Nov 11 of 2011 for my blog. A weird person left a comment under it which went something like "11th nov is my birthday, you "censored". I deleted it. That was of course, an exceptional case. Thank God, all my other readers are very polite. How about you? Have you every received comments that tried to defame you? I heard that sometimes people choose specific blog to bully its owner. Did it ever happen with you?

When you experience such kind of bullying, turning off your blog's commenting system temporarily may help until that bully lost steam and stop. If there are ways to automatically blocking that nuisance, much better.

I have a different comment posting policy for my blogs so I don't expect to be getting any of those. But I did experienced something similar at Yahoo Answers.
There was a technical question about a blog where wants to store her data in her own computer. She was mentioning something about reliability or some software engineering metric. Anyway, I'm familiar with the problem and rather than posting a long-winded overly technical answer, I posted a short version with an admonition for her to abandon the idea.
Well, I must have pushed the wrong button because she went berserk and called me an arrogant, ... Fortunately, I disabled the email feature so I didn't get any hate mail.

Oh Yahoo Answers is quite a hostile place. Probably, it is because their pages are moderated by bots. It seems many users asking the question just want free detailed answers more in favor of their situations. Otherwise, they tend to just lash out.

I've got a feeling that you said something about that date being bad luck and stuff, so of course he would be offended. In his opinion you have no right to declare which days are lucky and which are not.
If you got offended that a stranger was being rude to you, remember that you are a stranger to him and that's what you did.

Nope, I did not say the date was unlucky in my post. I just mentioned that this date comes only once in 100 years and it is wonderful that we got a chance to see it. Then I listed facts related to number 11:11. It is considered as a magical number pattern in numerology for which not just me, but also a few news sites covered it that specific day. I just explained the mystery behind 11:11. His comment had nothing to do with the body of the post because I never talked about the people who were born that day. Also I am against cursing. If he felt offended (I doubt)by the post he should have explained it clearly instead of just leaving an irrelevant one liner. I welcome everyone's complaints in my blog. I have no problem with that.

I have several blogs and there are times that I really received nasty comments, so what I did is delete them. I moderate all the comments coming so before it will be shown on my site, I have to read it first and delete the worst comments. There are plenty of spammers too so I blocked them.
As a blogger, I admit the fact that I cannot avoid receiving nasty comments so the best lesson I learn is always moderate it before it will be shown to the site.

Do you blog at blogspot? I know that wordpress has IP blocking system. But Blogspot doesn't. Guess what? Today I got this spam comment "fsdfsfdsfdsa ds sdaf sa fwef sdsfscx vas frewfscv dsa f". Not abusive, but sure is weird. I am deleting it right now.

I hope I will never have such a badi blog reader. It's understandable if someone or some people will do it as they know you never have access to them. But there is no need to be worried about it, you can just delete any comment that is not worth reading.

The name and antonymous features definitely do not let us see where these bullies come from. At blogspot, they have not even enabled IP check option. I wish we had it. I just had one incident. All my other readers seem quite polite.

some bloggers can be mean and accusative. it would be fake to say i was not affected that time. i got affected and anxious. it went away anyhow.

Majority of the readers are nice. But I saw some really rude comments under some blogs. They were not mine. It was before I started blogging. The comments made me somewhat anxious. Yet I decided to carry on with my mission to start my blog.
