Who Wins Africa Cup of Nations: Cote d'Ivoire or Zambia?

On Sunday, February 12, 2012, Cote d'Ivoire will play against Zambia in the final of the on-going Africa Cup of Nations. Both countries defeat their opponents in the semi-final by lone goal. Many favoured the Ivoriens to lift the trophy at stake; but, is it that simple? On paper the answer is "Yes", but the game of football is not that straight forward. Not many persons could have imagine that Zambia would go beyond the quarter final stage, but here they are as finalists (maybe winners!). Cote d'Ivoire won the cup in 1992 when they defeated Ghana on penalties. That year, the team got to the final without conceding a single goal. This year, Cote d'Ivoire has reached the final again without conceding a goal. Does it mean the team will win? Next Sunday will be the third time the Zambians will be playing in the final of the competition. On the previous two occasions, they lost. Does this mean that the Zambians will lose again? For me, the competition has been an interesting one; and the two co-host countries, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, have done well. Who do you think will carry the day on Sunday?

I think Cote d'Ivoire still become the favourite one.they have very good performance along the competition and also have the best team, which is consist of great player from several Europe league. I think Drogba, cs will do their best to bring the title of Africa cup. but also remember, anything can happen.Zambia also has play good during the competition, but I do vote for Cote d'Ivoire

On paper, Cote d'Ivoire should win; but football results do not always come out as predicted. I fell in love with the Zambians from their first game against Senegal. I wish the Zambians will lift the trophy for the first time. It'll be a great delight to the country that lost her entire football team in 1993 in an air crash off the coast of Gabon.

Many never gave Zambia any reasonable chance to reach the quarter final stage. So far the team saw off Ghana (one of the favourites predicted to win the tournament) at the semi-final stage. I think the Ivoriens should beware otherwise the "underdogs" will overpower them!

Without a shadow of doubt, the favorites are Ivory Coast. I said this before the tournament began and I say it again now. They have too much fire power up front. But having said that this is the third time they have made the finals and so far they have won nothing. This might be last chance for Drogba to win something at the international level. On the other hand Zambia has had a great tournament and their goalkeeper has been in great form. So it would be interesting, but my favorites are Ivory Coast. Cheers! Ram
