Surekha: for visiting other countries one requires passport and visa. Passport is normally issue valid for a period of 10 years. Please see the following link: http://www.passport.gov.in/nagpur.html You have to pay passport fees, you require passport size photos, address proof etc. Please go through the link. If you have any doubts please ask. I suggest you go through reputed travel agent in your place. May be you have to pay Rs. 500 or so more per passport. But it saves a lot of botheration. An expert will check your application fully and submit. best wishes

Dear friend, I do not know what the paperwork for documentation in your country. I can tell you that in the year 2003 I had to make the passport (I'm Italian) to go on vacation in Santo Domingo. I went to the office of the police and filled out various modules, at a small cost approximately 50 € (about $ 66). After a few weeks, the police released the document, remember that some photos were obviously necessary. Then you know that 9 years have passed, maybe now they will be different procedures. More then I can not remember.

Thanks friend for giving the information about your passport. I think if in tatkal(urgent) passport is required then Collector's ID proof and their sign is also required but in normal way it is not required.

In my home country I go to a main post office to get a passport form. Then I get some passport photos before getting a counter signature if necessary. I fill out the form and do it in the way the notes suggest. I take the form and photos to a main post office for a check and send service. I get my new passport in 3 to 4 weeks time if I do that. An adult's passport lasts ten years and a children's passport lasts for just five years. Good luck applying for your passport.

Hi Surekharathiji To travel in flight within India, does NOT require you to have any passport because you are an Indian Citizen. The normal process to have a passport has been rightly mentioned above. So I do not have anything else to mention on that. The best and easiest way is to get to the Local Passport Office and fill up the forms, deposit the 3000/- INR (fee might have changed) and wait for the Police Verifications etc. to be done. There is also a tatkal facility available where you pay more and get the passport done within 15-30 days. Normally the 3000/- scheme will get you a passport in about 2-3 months. Also helpful - if you know an Agent who can do all the settings for you the right way.

Well sis,it is better to pay an agent than go through the problematic procedure of having to apply for passport. The agent makes it hassle free.2000 rs is much less compared to what agents are charging here in hyd. There are many documents to be submitted, and an agent would help you file for application in a correct manner. All the govt offices are corrupted here and the agents have setting with the officers themselves.

dear sis, I thought you were asking how to make a passport :p Anyway, I read the comments above and I am sure some mylotters has given you the procedures you need to process a passport. As for local travelling- there is no need for passport. Passport is only needed when you travel abroad or to other country/countries :)
