I usually do this when Im not in a hurry or super hungry hehe...
but come to think about it, eating should be celebration (especially dinner) because its time we relax and enjoy the company of our family, friends, and other guest and savor the delicious food that we made for that celebration/gathering/dinner and try to enjoy every moment of it , Sometimes if my family will go out and dine in a restaurant i always try top guess what spice or flavoring that is used in a particular dish Im eating. And i think we/I get more satisfied if i savor and feel the entire dish than rushing and eating everything in the plate (I mean come on table manners hehe...).
Do you have the same mannerism towards food?
do you try and challenge your self by guessing what special spice or flavoring used in a dish/dessert that you consume?

when i'm dining out with my friends, we usually guess what's used in the food and savour the taste. it's really nice to enjoy every bite when i have all the time in the world. on the other hand, when i'm at work with only 30 minutes of break time, i got to eat in no time. don't even know how my food taste. tsk tsk.

work and all the things that needs to be rushed it the primary problem when eating... we tend to rush everything because of time.

haha, I'm the opposite. I only really savor every bite when I eat by myself and there's no other distractions (including friends, TV, cell phone, etc.). Otherwise, I get distracted by talking with friends or watching TV and I don't really notice what I'm eating.

I like to eat.
I think it depends in the time.I just eating in hurry at work when there is some unexpected clients or suppliers came at the office during lunch time or snack that I really need to attend to.But I always savor and feel the taste and deliciousness of every meal that I eat especially my favorites hehe.

I tend to eat a little too fast when I am on my own during the day and taking a meal break. In the evening times when my wife and I eat together I eat slower and it's the same when we go out for a meal. If I am enjoying the food, and very hungry, I do have a tendency to eat faster, but I don't think it is a good way to eat for the digestion. _Derek

I eat too much food. I wrote a article about eating mindfully. Making it a occurence and chewing it well. Actually our digestion starts in our mouths. Many of us don't realize that. I do try to savor a mouthful of something wonderful but usually not for long. I try to always use good table manners. Am trying to get my grandson to eat smaller bites and chew it better.

When I have dinner with my family. I ususally the first finish the meal.
When I have dinner with my wife. I will sit and wait her eating. When she finish, I will eat out all what left.
Wonderful feeling of full!

My teenage son tends to just "swallow" his food especially when he is hungry. But we discourage him for doing so. Not only it's not good for his digestion system; but we want him to respect his food as a blessing. He needs to learn to eat his food without rushing, properly on the table (not putting the food in his mouth while his eyes are fixed on TV), and be thankful by finishing everything he has on plate.

well teenagers now a day "eat and watch" some says these will lead to obesity but i dont know why... and yes you should really make him chew his food slower so he can digest it properly.
Nice job on reminding your son

Only favorite food could be savored with all delight and happiness. In fact one should have palatable delicacies if at all one should enjoy the goodness of wholesome food.

Not really...since I was a kid we always had to rush through a meal...usually something was waiting to be done....then you go to school and only have so much time to eat...the after that you get a job with a small break time...so my habit is to eat too fast! I wish sometimes I could slow down and enjoy it more.....but old habits die hard!

Unfortunately I do not savor every bite most of the time. A lot of the time I am eating in a hurry and just trying to get it down and half the time I am working as I am trying to eat. Once in a while if I go and get something special I may savor the first couple of bites of it and then it is back to eating as usually, without paying much attention. Sometimes I do savor the last couple of bites though if it is something I really like.

Eating is a good habit, but not too much. Everywhere, specially in the restaurant you can see a chef who prepare food for the customer. In the smell of the cook food, you can detect if it is delicious or not.
In the place we dine in last day, is eat all you can. The taste or savor is very nice. I think i can not walk anymore because i am very full.

well its really impossible to remember a taste unless you have a ken memory for taste. But there is this some weird phenomena for some people when they have tasted a similar dish made by their mom or a cake that has this distinct flavor like their grandmas cake it all brings back memory tahts what they said
