I have been reading a book about humans working toward the next evolution of all humanity. In a nut shell what it says is that more and more of us are working toward a goal of spritural evolution. In this next phase of humanity we will
bind together and do away with the ego which is no longer needed to protect each of us a individuals. Other then stating how one might involve one's self in this evolution it doesn't not say much about the purpose of this, except to point our that at the present pace we will totally destroy not only humanity but also the ability for life here on our beautiful earth. The book I read is Andrew Cohen's Evolutionary Enlightenment. Have you thoughts about this subject?

I hardly thing that all humans will come together anytime soon. Just take a look at the current situation in this world. I also do not believe that there will ever be any spiritual enlightenment. We are just humans. Nothing more. Where there are good people there are bad people and that will never change. Ego's will always be around also. I see no signs of anything changing in humanity in my life or anyones life for that matter.

I think that this kind of evolution would be a very good thing for the human race, but I also don't really know that it is something that is possible to have happen because of the fact that we are all granted with a free spirit and there is too much conflict between people already because of differences in beliefs and such. With that said, I do believe that human beings, like all animals, are in a constant state of evolution but the ways that we are evolving are more physical evolutions as opposed to evolutions of enlightenment.

That might not generally inclusive every single human beings on this Earth though. Some human has bigger ego than others, and if you need such evolution to be coming truth, it might take a long period of time, or perhaps a whole century for it to be coming truth. We, as human, need better education, or completely change the way we think and act altogether to make it perfect.

I am always confused by what some new-age authors mean by a spiritual evolution. I know they can't mean an actually physical evolution from one species to another. But I guess they mean more like a slow change in terms of our worldview. This wouldn't be such a bad thing for us to have. For so long, we've been focused on how to create and innovate, the idea being that we can fulfill our desires. However, it hasn't seemed to occur to us that our desires multiply the more we fulfill them. A focus on how we can be content with what we have in our world seems to me more effective.
