For the past several years when our lady president was in power, it is obvious that every citizen in my country wish to fry corrupt officials. However, these days with the new government trying to "reduce" corrupt government officals, people are meddling for the government not to do something for those involved. hhhmmmmm. . . I do not know why people are like this at times. What can you say?

One can really go bonkers trying to figure out the way people think when it comes to politics. My guess is that the so called underdog mentality had again kicked in. I mean, in our country, people have this thing about rooting for the underdogs. They feel sorry for someone being ganged up and sympathize with him. In the past administration, the underdogs were those who are now in the current administration. So I guess the table's turned and the people's sympathies are now for those who were once in power.

You are probably right there for one thing. I just could not fathom the idea that people who were once in power and were corrupt in their own little ways are being supported by some. These people even if the hearing is not yet over is obvious are corrupt yet they do not have the ethical consideration to get down from their post. I mean, in other countries, if one is being tried for suspected crime,she/he has to go down or file a leave for "delicadeza thing".

Sometimes I feel that people forget too easily. Actually, I was rather a bit surprised when a member of the prosecution panel (I'm assuming this is the impeachment trial :) was a very staunch supporter of the former president since he was appointed head of the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-Ibig), and I don't believe for a minute that he just had a change of heart. Well, this is another case altogether :)

Resolving the problems on corruption is one of the hardest things that will be address. Lets say that the president and the vice president are not corrupting, but the lower officials are making corruptions. Just imagine how much they spent during the election. Maybe a 100 million just to win the position, so how will they earn the money they lost will in fact the president have a very low salary.

I agree with you in saying corrpution is the hardest theing to eliminate. This is because almost everybody in the philippines is doing it Hardly you could find any office with honest employees and officials. If there are, I do not know the percentage and if anybody caught to be dishonest, he/she is not punished but rather promoted or assigned in another place.

If people don't want new government to 'reduce' corrupt government officials, then those people in that country may have benefitted from corrupt practices of their officials in the past, that may well is the main reason why they don't want to fry corrupted officials, so that they can continue to gain from corruption. Usually those people are make up by powerful interests group that control corporation or organization that can get multi-billion or trillion dollars government contract through back door deal and under table transaction. With corrupt officials still around, they are guaranteed big government contract will continue flowing into their pipeline and channel in the future. Now you know why people want to behave this way and like this for now.

If we did not go through the dark years of martial law, I think politics in our country would not be too corrupt as it is now.
