I am looking for my first job now. And I am confused with what kind of jobs that i really want. I find that jobs with good future always do not go with good salary while the one with good payment are usually can not be developed to be a career. Now money is important to me, but give the future up for the money seems an unwise decision. Can you share your idea with me about the first job?

I wasn't too worried about money issues wiwth my first job I just wanted something that paid so I could pay bills etc. I started off in a kitchen working doing dishes and stuff, it paid minimum wage but it was a first time job so I didn't care. I lasted there for 3 yrs and got a raise and then I found a job that I love and been at that current job for 7 yrs. So it depends on what you like to do. Just look for something based on the skills you have and something you know you may enjoy doing. Start with something easy first then look around for something better if you decide yhou don't like what you're doing. Hope you find that first job, best of luck.

Thank you for sharing the experience with us. To me, I think money is not very important now, for i do not have to support other people except myself. But I am not sure about the future. Here many companies do not care about how to help their people grow, they think it is easy for them to hire people. While to any individual future is very important. But if the job can have a good payment can help you get confident.

I have taken part-time job before as tutor. The experience help me easy to communicate with other people. And I am happy with the job. But if i do not take teacher as my job, most of the experience is useless. The relationship between co-workers when you take a part-time job and full-time job is different. If you take a part-time job, co-workers like to teach you but you do not have too much time to learn it well. While in a full-time job, co-workers are competitors, they do not like to teach you anything.

I am also looking for my first job these days. The national company has the good future for me, but they are not very efficient in many aspects. They are traditional and supported by the government. Another choice is foreign company, that is modern and efficient. I am sure that the foreign company could make a person more proffesional and more active, but the promotion is very difficult for us in the foreign company, especially the senior manager. I am also confused now... Do you agree me? PS: if you enter the foreign company now, it will be very hard to enter a national company afer a few years. The national company prefer the graduate.

I agree with you. I am try to have my job working in a foreign company, but the foreign company is hard to enter, and if working in there, i think i can not have enough free time in my future life. Though the salary seems quite good, hard work is required. While working in the national companies seem to have less chance to use what you have learned in the university. And the future for the national companies are not very good in my eyes.

Hi dandan, let me first wish you luck on your job search. I think on of the best things would be for you to have a sense of confidence...It important that you do your homework and learn as much about the establishment where your will be interviewing..It will help tremendously in the interview .. Money is important in a job, but your first job may not be your career job so just get yourself out into the work force... Good luck.......

I am in similar situation right now, or better say in a few months I have to decide. Maybe the best for you is trying to make a compromis. If possible of course. It is hard to say when you are in the situation that you need money. But maybe if you take a job where you can raise, it will be better for you and for your carrier.

The first step is the hardest thing to do. Looking for a first job and being employed on your first job will bombard you with a lot of queries. Money is really so important to us but what matters most is the experience and the knowledge that we gain during our first job. You will miss an important part in your job if you won't learn from it. You should love your job and money comes next.

Try to consider also your daily expenses with regards to the location of your job. Perhaps the job which can give you a brighter future yet low-paying is just located around the corner. And perhaps the other high-paying job is located far away. So that means if you choose the former over the latter, you will have less expenses since you will no longer need to rent a place to stay and your daily commutes are unnecessary. Chances are if you will choose the high-paying job and it's located far from where you're staying, your salary will just be a breakeven to the salary of the low-paying job.
