General Information to all my friends in mylot. Apples are everywhere, but be aware. According to the Research about the Seeds of the Apple. APPLES SEED ARE REALLY POISONOUS AND CAN CAUSE DEATH: Seeds are mildly poisonous, containing a small amount of amygdalin, a cyanogenic glycoside. The quantity contained is usually not enough to be dangerous to humans, but it is possible to ingest enough seeds to provide a fatal dose. SHARE this to your LOVE ONES. When you eat apples, even the seeds you eat? Be careful my friend.

Hi Boy, thanks for this valuable info. so far, i never eat any apple seed. So, i don't feel any danger it could do to me and my family. In fact, whenever we want to eat any fruit, we will at first throw away the seed before we consume them. Because the seed of apples and other fruits are mostly bitter in taste. But, i do like to eat the seed of sunflower because it tastes nice. Have you ever tried it before?

Thanks for the info boy. I never really thought of it as poisonous. Although I don't really see why anyone would eat the seeds of an apple, I think this caution still applies to some of us, especially to parents who have small kids and babies. I have a baby myself and we do feed her apples every now and then. Sometimes we just give her a slice for her to munch on her own and although I do make it sure that I remove the seeds, I guess it's a good habit to develop to always put in mind that apple seeds are poisonous because as we all know, babies don't really care what they put in their mouth, and who knows they might get a hold of apple seeds and eat them. So this info is quite important for parents like me. Thanks again!

Hi boylopez, Yes apple seeds do contain a cyanide compound (cyanogenic acid) but they are generally not dangerous to us. The reason being that normally one would not eat the apple seeds per se. But if a couple of the seeds get swallowed it is alright as they will be passed out without any harm. However if one starts to eat apple seeds by biting, chewing and ingesting them then one can suffer from cynanide poisoning. I'm quite sure no one eats apple seeds that way. That's why we don't usually hear of people die from apple seed poisoning.

The more we know, eh. Of course, I'm sure many of us have accidentally swallowed a seed or two in our time. And I doubt that many people are going to really just going to just put a bunch of apple seeds in a bowl and begin shoving them down their throat one at a time, to see how far they can go before they get stick. Well maybe a few. But not me. And this just goes to prove that even the healthiest sounding foods out there, does have a bit of a dark side. That's why I slice my apple and never eat it whole.

Ya, I heard that a few times before but thankfully hardly anyone eats the core. I did have one foster brother who ate the core, though but he survived :-p But as you said it'll probably be a large amount of those seeds before one can get sick and die. I think oranges were poisonous at one time before, until humans cultivated them or something like that. Not sure what they did to make them edible, though. Interesting how nature works and the history, eh

I do not eat apple much. I knoe it is not a good habit, and I should think about starting because it contents a lot of vitamines. But about poison inside the seed I did not know before. Thank you for shareing this stuff But I still think that not everyone is eating also seed. Bigger part of the human population is trowing them to the trash :-))

Rather a lot of foods we eat are poisonous. There are eight mentioned here: http://www.infobarrel.com/Eight_Surprisingly_Toxic_Foods_We_Dont_Think_Twice_About_Eating It includes water.

this is a nice information. although it is unlikely that people will be eating the seeds 'per se', it could be accidental and could be swallowed unknowingly.

Hi boylopez, thanks for this bit of information. I am not aware of such thing and thankfully I am not fond of eating Apple Seeds. I think if we eat those seeds, in a larger quantity too... it can really cause as harm. Might not only be poisonous but it will give us digestion problems too.
