I need a better job

I need a better job because the one I am at now doesn't pay very much and it's not enough to support myself. I do want to find another and better job but would still want to work at the other place, well almost. I'd only want to work one day a week on Sunday's, and there are people who do work only one day a week, or a few days a week there. I am thinking about factory work but not sure where to begin to apply. The factories around me are either an hour or two away and are in different directions. There are some closer, yes, and it'd be ideal if I could get in with one of them. I know factory hours are very different from retail hours, and generally entail 40 hour work weeks with 12 hour days. I'd be okay with that, it may be a bit too get used to at first though. I know a lot of factories have it where depending on the shift you can have either one or two days of the weekend off. I guess I'm just apprehensive about looking. Have you ever felt this way?

yup not something im happy with because that means it's "temporary" and I could be "let go" plus most of them you have to go to the temp agency to get your check, it's annoying.

When it comes to factories it's not as easy. There's one place that is hiring but they don't ever show it online unless they are in dire need. I'll just have to start applying soon to places. I've got to get a few things knocked out of the way first.

I feel that way all the time. I am really bad with anxiety. I am looking to see if I can find anything I like better than what I have. I feel like the schedule is killing me. I get forty or more hours per week. I still do product demos some weekends as well. If you had a factory job, why would you want to keep even one day of a retail job per week? You need time off to recover from things and to rest.

I know it sounds crazy that I'd want to keep the job, I guess I'd just miss my coworkers and would feel bad about quitting also. Me keeping Sundays would mean they wouldn't have to find a person to do sundays, which is hard to do at my job now. In any case, if they couldn't schedule me from like say 6 pm to 12 am every sunday, then I'd just quit directly.

Don't you think working in a factory is a bit tougher? And you will probably have less time to find another else where. What about working online? Isn't it enough to support yourself? I think that you are a very good writer. You can make a lot of dough from writing, can't you?

I don't want to spend my days online becuase that is what it would amount to! I'm not very good with freelance writing. I know factory work would make it where I didn't have much time during the day to do stuff but it would most likely free up my weekend or part of it, and that would be helpful.

Yes, I have felt that way. You will never know what is available and what your options are until you look. Get your resume up to date and ready and try. You can always turn down an offer if it is not to your liking. Good luck.

*Stresses* that's another thing, I don't really have a "resume" I have work experience but no "resume" so to speak.

I work 2 jobs, one is full time, while the other one just part time. I didn't make much either, and I really need more money too. I guess online earning here just part of work for saving toward my monthly contribution. I wish that I can find a better job in the near future to make much more money than that too. You know what, I just need better education that is all.

You are in the USA as well if I'm not mistaken. A better education can be a good and bad thing here. I hope that you can find a better job, but maybe it's best to start taking core classes and then deciding on a major. With core classes knocked out, you'll have more time to work between the classes you'd be taking for the major you'd want to get. Of course college does cost, and FASFA and pale grants are hard to get I think. Working two jobs and online must be very stressful and not leave you much time to socialize!

i think you have to find another job that could pay you well. you can try to ask the factories nearby your place see whether they need worker or not. the most important thing is you have to take action to try and ask. there is nothing harm to ask. maybe they will guide you the way how to apply for it. :) take it easy.

I do need to start seriously looking for another job, and calling around to factories will help. They can tell me how to apply, whether it be online or what, and who to talk to as well as availability and qualifications.

I never have felt this way. I have always had and looked for some time of customer service jobs. I have always been lucky to find interesting ones in my locality. I think if I were in your situation i would see what jobs interest you. You might not like factory work. They used to have tests you could take at the Job service and they really help a person determine what areas to apply in, what the title of the job is which is real important to you don't seem dumb when you go to apply, and what you want and need in the way of money. Is the job you apply for going make you enough money or are you going to have to get a part time job? Things like this.

You'll never know if you don't try. All of my jobs have been in factories (the ones that count anyway). I know that there are times of the year that a lot of people are needed, and there are some lean months too. If you could find something that could give you a permanent gig, try it out. Maybe you could get into a union, and then you'll be set.

I hope you can find a better paying job soon so you can move out and be on your own. With the economy being so bad it is hard to find work. My aunt works for the cable company and she works 10 hours days and has three days off. She likes her schedule because she gets off Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays off so it is easier for her to make doctors appointments and she does not have to ask time off from work. I wish you the best of luck.

Dear friend, perhaps you mean to a better job, I can definitely understand you. I am still sure that you more or less, sooner or later be able to settle in the best way. And I hope you will. But I just do not have a job, but I would look for any type of employment that will give me an economic return, I am willing to sacrifice a little for this, but it seems that until now, has not led me improvements. I continue to be unemployed.

Hello Somecowgirl, One should try out for the better paid job if not satisfied with the present job.I am in to the factory job in INDIA and yes its bit difficult to work in factory as one has to work for at least 10 hrs/day there.I do get just one day off in a week but thats true we are paid better than those who work in retail work. Hope you get a job soon but you must see that the location may be near to your home else you will have to spend some extra money for travelling too.

If your reason is financial, I think its really better to look for another job. Because the point of having a job is to be able to earn money that will be used to support your daily needs. My current work pays well and I can say that it is enough for a single person like me. But if I have a family to support, then it will not be enough, and that will be the time to look for another job that pays better.

hi, If you are looking for financial enhancements, then you should be taking up the ones which pays you better. Try to find something which is nearer to you, so you can save on the transport/fuel charges. If the ones which are far, then accept those jobs with a higher pay. Look for those jobs where 'change' should be either the pay is too good, the company where you join may provide you better career options. Best of luck.

It is a shame that you find your current job doesn't pay enough. Sometimes I have to get a fill in job before my next teaching contact. When I came home from my trip to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands I found a 20 hours a week shop assistant job. I had to cycle to and from work. I worked 4 hours a day and had the chance to work on Saturday if I took a weekday off. I applied for a maternity teaching post beginning in the September that year and was successful at getting it. I managed to stay there teaching for two years so that made me very happy. It was such a lovely school and my two classes were superb. Then I moved to a different area. Factory work would be a lot harder than a shop assistant work. The working hours would be long and boring. I liked the customer care role in that shop I once worked at. Job satisfaction is very important and so is having enough money to live on. At the moment unemployment is wide spread which is worrying. One of my friends had a food delivery job and did computer work in the day time. Good luck.

Financial is a big issue and yes, I do feel that, most of the time. The thing is the bills aren't decreasing much and things are getting more and more expensive while my earning doesn't increase much. Now that I open my own shop, the burden become less but not at the satisfying level yet. I am not talking about being filthy rich but it's enough if I can sleep with less worrying about the debts.
