Have You Had One Cat More Special Than Others?

I've owned cats all my life practically, and I've loved them all. Each one unique and beautiful in it's own way. Yet, my Ginger cat, r.i.p., who passed away nearly five years ago, was the love of my life. He was what I called my "heart and soul" cat, and when he passed, a part of me died, too. He was just a bit of fluffy kitten when i first got him, and although the whole family loved him, he totally attached to me. He liked playing with my son but if I walked in the room, Ginger was right by my side. Each morning we would "share" a breakfast pastry together while I sat at the computer checking my email. He would take tiny little nibbles from one side.
His picture is my screen saver on the computer. He passed away from a series of strokes - after doing better for four months. Died in my arms, the way he came in to our home.
What about you? Have you had one who above all others stole your heart just a tad more?

Yes, I have. Although I don't have any cats now I had plenty of cats in the past (not all at one time, of course LOL). The one that stands out the most has got to be my cat Rascal. He was my baby and oh so loving. I remember he'd played games with me like hide and seek. He'd even spring up into my arms. He was so cute! He used to go everywhere with my husband and I. He also slept on our bed as well. As a kitten he used to curl up right under my chin and sleep. After he got too big for that he'd usually sleep behind my head, although there were still times he'd try and get under my chin.
A few years later our human kids came along. He was the best big brother! He was always so patient and gentle with them. I couldn't have asked for a better cat.
Unfortunately we lost him back in 2004. And although we had a few other cats at that time, it just wasn't the same. Rascal was the best of them all. :)

Thank you - not a lot, but some. I am trying to eat a little something today. Hope it works!

Rascal sounds like a wonderful cat! I'm so glad you had him in your life for that long time. Ginger was perfect with my kids - who were much younger then - too. We all mourned his loss - I remember, after he passed away, in my arms, I held him for the longest time - he was wrapped in a little blanket -and then I carried him around to everyone for one last kiss...
I love the two we've had since, but it's not quite the same. Although, last night, I was very ill, and the two of them stayed in bed with me until I managed to get up this morning - and neither bothered me for food all that time - it's like they are very sensitive and I rarely get sick - so it was a pleasant surprise to sense their concern and care.

I am sorry to hear about your cat Ginger. It feels bad to see pets go. I had one cat whom I can never forget. It was a black and white male tuxedo. My teacher gifted it to me. Of course, she did not buy it. The kitty used to steal foods from her kitchen everyday. At one point, she ended up catching him for me. I got attracted to it because of its black and white coat. I just love it.
It was with me two years. Very aggressive, yet the cutest one. Its stealing behavior never was gone. But it was somehow very close to all me and my family members. But one day, it never came back. I got worried and went to search for it. Later I found it in the bushes. Something very strange happened to it. I felt as if it was in pain. I wanted to bring out. But it wouldn't just come. It ended up dying right in front of my eyes. Now I feel it was actually bitten by snake. That specific bush was the home of poisonous teen snakes for which no one dared to get into it.

Nah, I did not get to have any cats after that. My mom told me they always run away. But then we had to move to Middle East because of my dad's job. Over there, I found the cats very different. Also since the place was unknown to us, my mom told me to not even think of getting any cats. I had a pigeon though. It flew away. Probably, it was because of language barrier.

Just reading your post made me sad. I am sorry about what happened to Ginger. I kind of know how it feels when you lost someone who has been a part of your life. I am sure he's waiting for you in heaven. :)
I have two cats and though I genuinely love them both, Quattro is more special for me. He is ten times more affectionate than his brother so I get to bond with him all the time. Whenever I come home from school, he always greets me by rubbing his body on my leg and he would purr so loud it melts my heart. He always comes to me and ask me to pet him. And there are times when he will lie in our computer desk while I do my assignments. :)

Quattro sounds like a wonderful, special kitty! Affectionate cats are so much easier to bond with. They are heart stealers! My Rook has a very loud purr, too!
