You really don't have to get me anything this Valentine's Day cause the gifts are too expensive at this time of the year. You can buy me presents on any other days, I really don't mind.
I don't see why you should pay so much just for giving me a rose when you could just pluck them from the garden.
I don't see why you should take me to fancy restaurants on Valentine's Day when you could just cook and we can eat and enjoy our time at home.
So why wait until Valentine's Day to do all these things? Why can't we just do it on every other days?

hi Jlyn
I can do the cooking for ya. Surely. I love to cook and also, I am all alone for the next 5 days. And I see this as a great opportunity to cook and serve otherwise, ya know I am too lazy to cook for me all alone
Just lemme know what is your selection and I will get it on the tables...
Candle Light? Or Lamp Light?
For the flowers, No way. I dont have any even on the roof pots... and also flowers look so great on the plants.
Now for every other day! Hmmm... I think if it was every other day, when will they go to work

Awesome dear. I dont have too many guests and friends visiting me. So I love any opportunity where I get a chance to play the Chef
Sure dear, anytime... See I dont have a fixed work schedule and this many a times creates issues but if you say and agree, I can always set aside the tasks and plan accordingly...

Hi sids
That's so sweet of you. You can cook your specialties. I'd love to try each and every one of them.
Candle light would be fine. We get to save some electricity and I'm sure mother earth would be happy.
Then I guess we would just have to have our dinner in the garden then.
Does every other day after work sounds okay to you? We still have a few hours before bedtime. So, I guess everyday sounds okay now.

Aaaww, that is so sweet. So you save from buying her presents by just wishing her and giving her sweet kisses?
Well, now you know what Valentine's Day is, so it's not too late to celebrate it with her.
Give her my regards and Happy Valentine's Day to you both.

I totally agree with you on this one. For me, Valentine's Day had lost its appeal over time but still, the thought that every day should be heart's day for couples, should be a must. If I were to choose, I would probably want a Valentine's Day with just my partner and I at home, eating our favorite home-cooked meal while watching some chick flicks or anything that interest us and just have a nice and easy time together. I don't actually like the idea of going out on fancy restaurants just because there's an occasion or something, although it could be interesting at times. It's okay to have some fun outside, not just on Heart's Day but also on any day that you could spend some quality time with that special someone.

I already have a menu planned for dinner tonight. I hope hubby brings me even a small chocolate. He is such a miser that when I teased him last Christmas that he didn't get me a gift, he said that he was the gift. But I don't plan on slaving in the kitchen for our dinner since I am not feeling well. The rains in my country has brought a drop in the temperature and I am wheezing. I hope that I'll be okay later so that we can at least spend a Valentine's dinner even at home.

we also do not give gifts on valentine's day. We can show love any other day.

I think those greeting card companies should also learn to market the other 364 days of the year for people to just do those things you mentioned. Instead of just one particular day!
I think that the trick is to make it as inexpensive as possible because there are more days to express love.

Hiii stylish women how is your cow?
I also not purchase any gift for my hubby because gift is very costly. They also not mind for this. Because we both knows gift is not necessary to show our love. I will make some special dish for my child and husband both.

Hi fantabulus
Dupremo gave my cow away.
Anyway, you are right. Busying a gift at this time of the year is very expensive. I think making special dish for your loved ones is a great way of celebrating Valentine's Day.
By the way, are we all invited to your house on this special day as well?

hi lyn long time no 'see' I've been pretty inactive in mylot this week but I still read some discussions when I have free time, and I also read the notifications from mylot about my friends discussions and was surprised to see that you finally start your own discussion again, I think this is the first one since I became your self appointed sidekick ( or kick your side as you prefer it ) anyways regarding the discussion I always think of valentines day as just another commercialize "special day", for me love should not be only expressed in just certain days like valentines day because everyday is as important as this so called "special day"

Hi phillyguy
What have you been up to that you've been so busy? Yea, you don't see much of my discussions, probably happens only once in a blue moon, if you could find a blue moon.
True, we both celebrate Valentine's Day every day, so it's not only tomorrow.
@Dupremo
Bring out the chocolate milk and start serving.

It doesn't sound weird cause it's meant to be. The thing is why want to spend so much when we already know that the price of the gifts and dinners and everything else on that day would shoot up?
Your gf must be very happy to have such a nice bf like you. I'm sure she will cherish you all her life. Hope you and your gf enjoy this Valentine's Day.

:) That was a real nice way to express your thoughts Jlyn. Lot of meaning into it. Expression of Love can't be measured in $, or Euro or for that matter any other currency value. Its a gesture that comes from within. For those who love every day is V-Day. Anyway, my wishes for the same.

Hi Jenny, that is also what I was thinking. We have all the time in the world to celebrate Love. So why do guys needs to spend so much on this day? Why is it so special? Who influenced us to be especially romantic on this day, when we can do it everyday or every other day to our partner? Do I sound a bit bitter? Hope not

I use to like Valentines day when I was in a relationship. I would get some nice little gifts and take my significant other out to a nice dinner and somewhere else. Now that I am not though I am just working all day and trying to keep my mind off of everything. I hope it goes well for everyone else though.
