I just had a thought. Do you know how those plastic bowls covers that are sold in magazines and stores? They look like a shower cap to me, although just one size. Do you ever compare silly things like this? What is an example of where you have done that and what was it? I want to hear some funny comparisons, OK?

This isn't very funny, but you can actually use shower caps - if you can find them.
What I think are absolutely ridiculous are things like precooked bacon and single potatoes ready to bake. Or boiled eggs. The price of those things are crazy and it's not really hard to "prep" a potato for baking.

I presume you can, but some of them are quite large. I guess if you have a large bowl it's OK.
My mom buys the pre-cooked bacon but she is not the kind to like to cook anyways so I can see why she does that. Personally I know how expensive it is so I won't buy it. The thing is she will buy that, but then complain about leaving a light on to view something important for 5 minutes, oy!

I constantly look for multiple uses for one item, like the bowl covers and shower caps. You could almost make your own if you were handy with a sewing machine. I have never kept myself restricted to using something for just what it was intended for. I bought a set of food storage boxes from Wal Mart, and I ended up with two sets with one for food storage and the second for craft supply storage.
I had been looking for a dust mop to use on my family room floor, and I hated the price on the ones in the cleaning department. So I happened to be in automotive department and there was a dust mop type thing that you could use to clean your car with or whatever. It had a telescoping handle and it was $3.97 compared to $9.97 for a simple dust mop. I bought the thing from the auto dept and it's worked perfectly. It's having a good imagination that helps save you tons of money in the long run...just like the bowl things and using a shower cap instead.

Oh how I wish I were handy with sewing, I have a small hand sewing machine that I'm actually afraid to use cause of the needle and how I'm not used to using such a device. I have it up for sale on one sale, in fact. But anyways, yes I'm sure some handy dandy talented sewer could make them as well, they are usually made of plastic so they can be cleaned easily but I bet they could be made out of cloth too and thrown in the washing machine.
Wow thats a good alternative for a mop, and so much cheaper. I bet there are so many items out there that could used for the same thing, and be much cheaper for us, if we only thought about it.
