Do you think people tell lies on mylot?

Do you think people on mylot lie sometimes, and tell wide and crazy stories that aren't true about themselves just to have something to discuss. I'm just wondering cause my life is so boring right now, that I don't know anything interesting to bring up thaqt would cause a bunch of people to respond.

Hello chrystaltears, I cannot say about others but after reading experiences of people it looks as if they are real. And as far as i am concerned i don't lie here on MYLOT.Even though if they do lie also then too it does not bother me at all as we have something to discuss.

Maybe my words in using lying are too strong. Maybe they just write some interesting fictional discussions. That can be fun.

From reading the comments on mylot the stories seem pretty real, but I bet there are some people that lie just to start a discussion. I bet if you go through some older posts you can find some dodgy posts.

I can't make sure about that because each people have own point of view about what to discuss and the value.I'm not kind of active discussion maker and definitely very rarely made a discussion about my life. I don't know, but it's kind of doubt to share detail of my life here, even sometimes it's good idea to find some great solution because in reality I would never meet person who discuss with here

You never can tell. You might find someone you love to talk to on mylot. I am not real outgoing because of my past as a child. Not alot of self confidence and all. But who knows, you never know!

Hi redvakaurvaki, it's true. Some may not want to share some things that go on in their lives. That's why I am glad I don't have some people in my family or some friends or acquaintences I know personally, because I don't want everyone to know my personal business, because they may talk about me or judge me. So if they aren't here, they don't know what is going on with me totally. This is private to me.

of course in fact we never know. and it's impossible to know that discussion here is reality or not. may be some lie, but may be some tell the truth -even there's a particular part to hide.may be you won't to tell your hard part of life, but may be when you happy, you want to share it here

I'd like to think that they don't. Maybe they tweak it a little bit but I think the truth is still there somewhere :) Although I sometimes think that some people are a bit shy to admit it was them who had such and such experiences and instead posted a supposedly hypothetical situation or they cited their friends or relatives as those who experienced such and such :)

That's true. I did that once on another site. I got the information I needed without revealing it was for me!

That's great binggaling. That's a great way to handle it. And it's good that one reason you do it is because it could help to comfort some of our mylotters out there who are needing that help right now.

I don't know if some people do that but I think its silly to do it. I have so much going on in my life that I have no need to lie. Lol. I have a pathetically sad life at the moment, I think most people here know it. =( I'm hoping things will get better soon though.

Hi lovingmybabies. I will have to take sometime to find out what is going on in your life that has caused it to be sad. I am hoping for you too, that your life will get better soon. I have had some serious things go on in my life for the last 4 to 5 years which have changes who I am. I am trying to come out of my rut. I feel I am slowly, but I have a long way to go, and I will never be who I was before.

I have wondered this very thing myself. My thoughts are that many people will embelish their stories to sound a bit more interesting, much the same as how people do when talking to friends. The classic "fish that got away" story. I know that my life does not contain too many exiting events to post about either.

Well, if you notice woody, there are many things on here which aren't interesting after all. They may be about what they ate or they got sick or have a cold or the baby wet the diaper, but if you can relate it gives you something to talk about sometimes. I hope you do well.

I think that the majority of mylotterd here have had a lot of experiences and are very knowledgable about a lot of people, places ans things... Maybe because of the age of some mylotters we have a lot of opinions about a lot of issues.

Yes. I guess since I am as old as I am, I could talk about things I have experienced in my past. Now I do have a past. I have had people tell me I should write a book. That was usually when I was telling someone what disasters have happened to me. Their lives were so normal they couldn't believe that many things could happen to one person, but I have also had some super great experiences!

You are so right about that. There is nothing like the real experiences, and oh my goodness, you never know what tomorrow might bring.
14 Feb 12
That's true age equells experience, its good that people are willing to come onto mylot to share them so other people can learn from experiences

I think that people most often do lie on here, or stretch the truth just to get a little bit of a good discussion going. Atleast at first. Plus you've also got to think some do it to protect their identity.

To protect their identity. I can see where that would happen. What goes on the internet stays on the internet. Scary thought.

Some might tell lies, but I can't say that I've ever lied. I don't really see the need to lie. There are some things that I may prefer not to share, but I'm not going to lie about something.

Wow! That's great that you never lie. I certainly can't say the same for myself. But when it comes to mylott, I haven't found the need, as far as I can remember==who knows?

Hi, Christaltears, I would say that people don't lie but as a read the responses I begin to hesitate. From my point of view there is no need to lie. I even feel more free to speak about me here because nobody knows me in my real life. I may be shy to open myself to people who I meet face to face but my virtual friends are far away from me and I have the courage to speak. But people are different and everyone has different reasons for his behaviour.

You know, I am the same way. Sometimes, tho, I worry that someone I mention in my discussions may see something I wrote and recognize it as them then there would be hard feelings. I have to be careful of that. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings--just want to say what I need to about them for whatever reason I need a listening ear at the time. Someone maybe to complain to!

I think most of mylot users are honest and sincere users who like to share their real life experience and discuss it with others;there are probably a few exceptions, but if those who tell lies are very convincing and tell some fascinating stories of things that they have never experienced,I don't blame them,at least they deserve to be appreciated for their creativity.

Yes. If they are creative, why not use it. As for myself, I don't have the creative gift. I guess that would explain one of the reasons I don't have a very good personality.

in my line of work as an international spy i find life is never boring. indeed, right now i am skydiving from 20,000 feet but luckily i have my laptop to pass the time. yesterday i drove a rocket propelled car over the grand caynon, spelling out the words "will you marry me?" with the exhaust smoke to my girlfriend Penelope Cruz. I do think people tell lies on mylot but i would never dream of it! Okay, i may have lied a tad.

I don't think so. Maybe there are only a few who tell lies but most of the people here in mylot are telling the truth. My responses and discussions here are all true that is why I believe that most of us here are honest.

I would have to say that as many people as there are members on mylot that there have to be some little fictional discussion writers in that bunch. It would be impossible for there not to be. Keep up the good work!

You don't have to start a discusion on your life. ,..or you can start a discusion as how boring your life is.(mine its boring too) There its one think they do not lie ,its what they think. Everybody's opinion does count.

True. True. True, loonys. Everyone's opinions do count and that is what mylot is supposed to be alright. It's good that everyone here recognizes that fact and respects it and do not make it hard for anyone who disagrees with their way of thinking.

I have no doubt that some members have made up stories in order to create discussions that appear interesting. With a database of nearly a quarter of a million members this is virtually a certainty. I do not consider this to be a problem because there is no harm involved and as long as the other members gain some entertainment from it then it serves a fair purpose.

I'm sure that they do. People lie all the time on the internet. It happens every day I'm sure. People are less courageous to lie in real life though. I guess when you lie on the internet, it probably won't come back to haunt you later, like it would in real life. Especially when there's money making involved on the internet, I see people saying "make THOUSANDS a month with such and such program", it's like, um, yeah OKAY, if you say so... LOL. Even though my life is pretty darn mundane and tedious and totally uninteresting, I still manage to find some random discussions to start on here that usually merit at least a couple of responses... Not that many, but eh, even if I wanted to lie, I couldn't imagine what to even lie about... IE: "I just won the Power Ball lottery.. What should I spend my money on!" or, "I am pregnant with my bosses' husband's baby! HELP!" LOL. *shrugs*. I guess as long as it doesn't offend, people are free to lie about whatever they choose, I guess...

That's so true. They can do anything they want. I would never knock it. My daughter and I have had a friend at least each who lived in wah wah land or something. They would make up stories about who they used to be how they were raised in orphanges and didn't have families and on and on just to find out later on they were living in some kind of fantasy world. jUST CRAZY STUFF THEY WOULD TELL. You' feel sorry for them because of this or that, and none of it was true. Bad thing about it they had knew stories all the time that we learned were never true. It got to be like, 'why do I listen to this person?'

maybe yes, some are lying but then again its their choice. if they want to create stories just to start a discussion then its up to them. sometimes it will be helpful to some people here you are in that situation but they can not talk about it. as long as you don't name names and mention people and malign their personality its okay.

You know, it's sounding better and better to me all the time. Since my life is so boring, I may decide to write some things that are interesting. Hey, if it's interesting and the mylotters responding have had experiences in those areas, it could get to be alot of fun. I'm gonna give it a whirl when I think of something interesting. Thanks.

Well, if you will say yes then you could be one of them, but if you say no they will rise eyebrows and think of you being pretentious. Hiding your personality with no such question is not a lie. Making stories responding to discussion is being fictitious or creative. Lies here in Mylot can be closely describe as a fiction or creative idea of personal concept that can be related to personality matter!

Yes, but have you ever known some of the people we run into who can't open their mouths without saying things that aren't true? They amaze me. I feel like there is something missing in their confidence or something that they feel the need to do this.
