Oh my god,This is the second time. Yesterday me and my husband went to a local restaurant. The food there tastes too good.We ordered chicken dum biryani and chicken kababs. After having biryani,we ordered for another bowl of plain biryani. We had enough and decided to leave. We had to pay the bill. The waiter who served our order brought the bill and handed it to my husband and told my husband that "they forgot to include the extra biryani in the bill",my husband handed over the bill amount which includes the extra amount for the biryani(Rs100)to the waiter. We doubted the waiter and hence observed him.He paid the bill for the first two items at the bill-counter and kept that extra money in his pocket and moved away. He cheated us as well as the owners. We couldn't speak anything against him though we know the truth.I argued with my husband on this topic and asked him to complain to the owner of the restaurant, but he didn't. I think the waiters there earn more than their salary by doing this regularly. We visited twice and were cheated both times. What do you people feel and how to treat such people?

Hi there lhekya, You should report this, this waiters are obviously cheating there boss and you dont know they might be telling the cashier that your not paying right and might end up in a bad situation, dont argue directly with those waiters and i think it would be better if you do a little sting operation with the manager to see it go down. Just a suggestion. Take care.

Thanks for the suggestion. The next time i wont leave him.I thought this time i would observe him keenly and then catch him red handedly. This would serve the purpose better.Because we had no solid proof against him the last time.

This guy is making that restaurant look bad and possibly deterring You and other customers from going back there..if business would drop as a result of this guy's actions, with word of mouth getting around about the dishonest staff there, the restaurant might close and then you wouldn't be able to enjoy this food again..

I don't know clearly whether it is the same guy,but it happened twice. My first visit was almost 1 year back.I can't recollect his face. But whatever all the waiters there are of the same kind.As u said, these people are the reason for defaming the restaurant, otherwise the food there is extraordinary. The business of the restaurant is dropping down because of these traitors. They might have trait-ed the owner several times,as we can observe. That is a huge business loss to the restaurant.Such people should be severely punished.

If you know for sure your waiter STOLE YOUR MONEY while at the same time cheating his employer, you should complain to the owner or manager how you were overcharged..If this guy has done this to you,He's probably done it before and would likely do it again..A good earning scam,to me..I wouldn't care how good the food is,if the staff are that dishonest to the customers and the owners,I wouldn't want to go back there..At the very least, you should have insisted on a reprinted bill, not handed him your money for him to pocket..

You needn't get directly involved in accusing this person if calling him out publicly wouldn't be your thing..an anonymous letter to the owner or an email should be enough to warn the manager this is going on..A website here called tripadvisor gives ratings and recommendations for hotels and restaurants, and allows public users to post photos and comments about their experiences as customers, whether good or bad.. if the site is available in your area, that might be another option, but I'd think the management might want to know first and have a chance to do something about it before reading it online! Thanks for best response!

Good information. That's an excellent way to get things off easily.I loved this suggestion of yours.Yes the website you suggested is working for me.But i feel there is no use submitting ratings, because it might damage their reputation, without even knowing the reason.Instead as you said it is always better to give direct recommendation and let the MANAGEMENT know the reason for our disappointment directly. The next time i visit the hotel i wish to speak directly to the manager. Now coming to the best response, i feel you deserve it.Happy mylotting!

YES,U are absolutely right.I got the idea of reprinting the bill. But wanted to see what he would do with that money.Because we doubted him,and what to observe him and test him to see if he would the same thing which he did to us earlier. That is whether he would hand over the money to his manager or put it silently in his pocket. He cheated us as usual. This time we wont take risk instead complain against him or atleast ask for another bill. Thanks for the good suggestion.

I think that if things like this are not reported, it will continue to become the norm. Waiters would continue to cheat both the owner and it's clientele. Your husband should have told the owner. I think it's not too late. He can still call on the owner. People go to the restaurant for the food. Not to be victimize by cheats.

Yes this time i wont let him go.I was severely disturbed by that incident and hence decided never to keep my mouth shut against such culprits.;Letting him go is supporting him in his misdoings.I think i shouldn't anymore.

Hi lekhya, It is definitely not right for the waiter to do such a thing. No one likes to be taken advantage of. He probably thought the customers are 'fools' and no one would be the wiser. I think that you or your husband should at least inform the owner or manager who will perhaps warn him. If he has indeed carried out this type of stint repeatedly then losing his job is his own doing.

I don't know how he could make a fool of us,he definitely took advantage of the situation and got benefited. They seem to be very cunning and smart. But some day they will face the result of their wrong doings.I don't think they can escape so easily all the time.If the next time,i had to go to that restaurant i myself wont leave that fellow.HE needs to be punished.

What is the use of saying sorry after hurting and cheating.I wish these people change themselves in building a healthy environment.

You should tell the owner. If other people see this they may decide not to eat there and thus costing the owner more business. The waiter is a thief and is cheating the customers.

Yes i should, this time i will do that.I feel many customers might have been cheated by now because of these people. We observed his move and were able to catch him but i don't think any one might have observed or complained against them.

i would have certainly spoked to tha manager or owner.it happened to me once and i asked to see the manager.i don't mind giving tips but i don't like to be cheated ,because i work for every cent and it is horrible when someone tryes to take advantage of somebody else.

He should be punished,i wonder how much money he had earned like this till now? Just imagine at least one person a day,he will cross double his salary.World if full of cheaters.I have also done a mistake by not complaining against him.I am a traitor too.But there is no use regretting now. This time if i go there,my only aim would be to get rid of such people by reporting
