I think it is a little, but it's really none of my business if someone wants to get married on Valentines day. Its to each there own. I know that a lot of people get engaged on Valentines day, so why not right?

According to my thoughts valentine day is suitable for love not for engagement or not for marriage. Because today's day celebrated in the remembrance of two lovely couple valen and tine according to my knowledge. If you get a survey then mostly of the people give a vote in the favor of celebrating the valentine days nor for engagement nor for marriage. It is my self opinion.

It's actually a day to celebrate Saint Valentine or in Roman catholic Valentinus, it later became a day for "courtly love" which was a secret ritual that was not practiced between husband and wife but between two people who had a spiritual/physical attraction to one another. They also exchanged "love notes" hand written, which is now known as Valentines, which is now given in the form of a card. But you are right its not a day to get married or engaged as the origin goes.

I think it would be more practical cause you only have to give a gift and celebrate once a year instead of two different days , BTW my parents were married on Valentine's Day!lol. could it be that people were cornier during the 50's haha (kidding), yeah that's their wedding anniversary so people do not have a hard time remembering.

I think it's totally personal. Valentine's Day has a special meaning to my husband and I. Our relationship started out as long distance (we met on line when he was in AZ and i was in Ontario Canada). We met in person in Feb 2007, and got married in September. In Feb of 2006, he'd sent me a beauiful boquet of flowers for Valentines Day. Between our initial meeting in Feb of 07 (we were together for two weeks before I had to fly back to Canada), and November of 2008 when he flew up here to stay, one of us was always flying back and forth, and there were months when we were apart, We missed Christmas, missed our first wedding anniversary in '08, but by some coincidence, our screw schedules always allowed us to be together on Valentine's Day, so we celebrate every year; not because of society, but because of us.

I suppose it's one way of ( Hopefully!) not forgetting when the Anniversary is due!

There is nothing wrong if they want to get married during Valentine's day at least it could save the budget. Like if they would celebrate their anniversary at least they would also celebrate Valentine's day at the same time.
