http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/10/new-zealand-man-win-a-div_n_1269634.html "The Rock" is a radio station in New Zealand that was offering to pay for a couple's divorce in exchange for it being done on air on Valentine's Day. A 31 year old man won the contest & today he was to call his clueless wife while on air & tell her he wanted a divorce. Of course there was a lot of controversy over this cruel stunt. Maybe she's not as clueless as this sounds...but, if she was, this would be a HORRIBLE way to learn you're getting a divorce!!! Divorce is NEVER easy, but this sounds very harmful & mean-spirited to me!!! Thinking further, I guess she's lucky to be rid of a man who is so willing to treat her with such disrespect!!! What you think???

Wasn't there an episode of Ghost Whisperer along the same lines?

College kids come across tapes of an old radio show that did that, so decide to stage a re-enactment which causes the ghost of the woman wronged thusly to wreak havoc...

This is hurtful, don't you think. Over the air, from your radio and listening to it with everyone else in New Zealand, your beloved husband tell you he wants to divorce you, and want to get rid of you from his life forever. That is something no women ever want to happen. So, I don't know. It might be a fun and humorous stunt to someone, but it is such a pain to some people else. I don't know what to say, but this radio station might reconsider their program. They might earn a lot of listeners, but morally........

I think it would be hurtful no matter which spouse did it!!! The station is obviously ONLY interested in itself & has NO morals!!! Even if she agreed to do it, I think it would be humiliating to have a whole country laughing at your pain!!!

whether she is clueless about it or not saying it on air would shock her nonetheless and on valentine day too

Wow what a pompass @$$! I think she is much better off without him and I hope she takes him to the cleaners. What a jerk. On Valentine's Day no less. She is much better off without him.

I think that she is BLESSED that he's leaving!!! I don't believe in taking anybody to the cleaners. The ONLY way to truly be rid of them is to sever ALL ties!!! Once they leave, there is NO more contact...including a monthly check!!!

Oh..that is terrible. I think it would be devastating to be told that way..even if you knew it was coming. I can't imagine someone having lived so close to another and have no more respect for them than that. It does sound as though she would be better off without the jerk and hopefully his antic will give her strength to move on.

It would be terrible even if she hated him & wanted him to leave!!! Respect is one the main things in life that I see dying off rapidly!!!

I totally agree with you. The lady would be sooo lucky to be rid of a man who doesn't even have the balls to tell her face-to-face, straight-out, and with much respect that one should have as a partner, that he wants divorce. Hell, if he can't even give her that, how much more for all the other difficult situations in marriage. She's better off without a jerk like him.
