These taxis are too FAST!

There are public utility vehicles we ride like the bus or jeepney if we are on our casual schedule. These are not a problem. Then comes the time when you are going to be late and you decide to take a taxi... Are these taxis not supposed to take you to your destinations faster? They are not just luxury rides but they should bring you to your destinations faster than casual rides do. I just cannot believe how some taxi drivers drive like a snail! What? You trying to save your gasoline, you might as well give up the job of being a taxi driver! These kind of drivers really annoy me and I get to my desination taking the same amount the casual rides take. Do these taxi drivers know what their role is on the road? Everytime I take a taxi, I always observe the speed of the taxi on its way towards me because I try to hail one when they are at a far distance. Sometimes though, I just make a wrong decision in choosing a taxi and get a slow one. It pisses me off everytime because I only take a taxi when I am really behind time. I know it is my fault but there are times you just are late and there is also a reason why there are taxis on the road. I just took a slowpoke lately. What about your experiences?
