Wish I could knock him out

~~my son who refuses to sleep at night. He is like a superman, he doesn't need to eat and he doesn't need to sleep, and still he is very energetic. I suppose I should be happy that he is still healthy and happy but it is painful to see his thin body and he is so much lighter in weight compared to those of the same age (he's 10 months and weighs about 8kg, not a good weight). He sleeps at 12 midnight, wakes at 7am and hardly sleeps at all in the daytime. Experienced parents, any advice on how to make him sleep early or sleep more and eat more? Pls help...

Have you tried some whiskey and mil sweetie. That normally knocks them out for a whole night. As for his eating habits. I think u need to take him to the doctor. Its really not a good weight at all.

Sleeping from midnight til seven am is good in my opinion. I would say switch his formula to a higher calorie formula. I have 3 month old twins that were born premature. Similac makes a formula specially designed to add more calories to the diet of babies struggling with weight gain. Ask your doctor for a sample.

You are welcome. I hope that all is well with your little man. I know it is heart breaking and troubling for us when they don't seem to be getting enough to satisfy them. Thanks for the best response too.

I guess as a parent, we will always be worrying about our kids. It is the biggest challenge in life.

I can totally feel you on this one. My youngest, who is 4, still has issues with sleeping. She's like a caffinated hyena or something. She's always on the go, up at odd hours and never seems to bother her. She was born early, and had some issues with her stomach which caused her to be put on cereal when she was 2 weeks old, that seems to help with the stomach issues but not the sleeping part. I would talk to my doctor about adding some cereal since he's 10 months old to see if that will help him gain weight and or some baby food. Best of luck!

Hi Jae, I have started him on baby cereals since he's about 5months and from the 7th month onward, he has been taking porridge twice a day. He is still not a big eater but I guess reasonable. Somebody advised to let him get more exercise during the daytime so that he can get tired out as well as get hungry. I think this makes sense and am still trying out to see how it goes. "caffinated hyena"! You have a lot on your hands, I can just imagine it.
